Didn't click the link, but assume it's about the singularity. If that's the case, bring on the singularity! =)

Substance-independent minds will receive new bodies with capacities far exceeding those of ordinary humans.
These are funded scientists discussing the concepts, not conspiracy theorists, so it brings more queasiness over the proposals.
Not sure how you formed that conclusion, or why you're trying to discredit my comments. You think scientists are incapable of letting their imaginations run away with them?
"Could your brain be programmed to work better?" it asks.
To quote the biologist Steve Jones, "We know almost nothing about the brain, and what we do know is probably wrong."
The rest is similarly futuristic gobbledygook.
On another, computer related, site I frequent, there is somebody who never tires of predicting that the "Turing Test will be passed in the next twelve months." So twelve months go by, and still the great event is just twelve months away.
What will computers look like in 2045? Well, at a guess, they will have 64 terrabytes of RAM, 256 core processors and 16 petabyte solid state drives. The architecture will still be x86, it will still be running word processors, spreadsheets and databases, and the "singularity" will be confidently predicted for arrival before the end of the century.
The site looks like a nice collection of recent advances -- sort of a Popular Science spread with conferences. There are incredible advances happening in research that we seldom hear about: right now the home page brings out how nano-folding increases capabilities in solar, printing, and robotics.
I'm guessing you're concerned about the topics there like <Redacted Since I Can't Post Links> Cybernetic immortality.[/URL]

I have heard people talk about the Revelation "Mark" being a genetic transformation that removes our humanity and takes us out from under God's redemptive plan. Wanting to be greater on this earth, but losing control over our eternity and soul.
Honestly, I don't see many happy people on this earth, and can't imagine why they would want to extend their life spans. To be in poverty and war longer? To have more heartbreaks of lost and injured loved ones? To have their homes destroyed and identities stolen more completely? And then add the arrogant super-people who lord it over the others.
