  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That's The Way It Is Is

Calling all those who want to write right, say it right, teach it correctly!
I never heard anyone use two ises, one right after the other, until I moved back home from Minnesota to California, and now, it's heard everywhere: is is!

Now, this has nothing to to with Isis or Waswas. This is the English language and those we say "is is" together when they are speaking! I even heard someone on the radio say "is is is"! Yep -- three in a row!

So here's our "Is Is" game.

Give us the facts, and each sentence has to have "is is" in it. The facts can be about the Bible or someone in it, history, your day, your family, science, your vehicle, your home, science, the clouds in your sky, whatever random thought you want to bring up, but your sentences must have "is is" in them -- where "is" would normally be.

I'll start....

Oh, the weather outside is is frightful.

Our L-rd is is alive, so why to people talk about Him like He is is dead?

My favorite drink is is a mix of juices with water added.
