I have recently recommitted my life to Christ, read my Bible thoroughly, and pray daily. However, I just can't seem to get the feeling that I know Jesus, and feel that my prayers are essentially one-way. In other words, I don't sense a personal relationship with the risen Christ. Is this normal, or is there something I'm not doing right? I pray daily to the Holy Spirit for guidance in this matter, but so far, I'm sensing nothing.

I have a feeling that it's one thing to read the Bible, study other materials, and confess my sins, and quite another thing to possess the feeling of fellowship with the Lord.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I find that the more i read my Bible and spend time in prayer the more i will sense His presence. When I get out of reading the Word (being lazy on my part) or away from His counsil I find it harder to feel Him near me.

Pray without ceasing! Congrats on your coming back to Him!

Talk to Him ALL THE TIME. I talk to God almost every minute that I am awake. It isn't always, "O Holy Father" either.... When I am at school, just walking... lets say I trip or something.. I laugh and tell God that He knows that His child is clumsy.. or even if I burp, I'm like, "God, that was a good one!"... haha sounds silly, but He's like my best friend. I include Him on everything that I do, everything that I feel. There is the time that I am down on my knees, in worship and prayer, but when I am not, it's just normal chatting with Him. Continue to just talk to Him, whether you feel Him or not. He promised to never leave nor forsake you, so trust that He is there and listening... ok ? :) Hope that helps

You can ask the Holy Spirit for help and assistance and guidance. You do pray to God the Father, but there is nothing against crying out to Jesus the Son or the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit directly influences you.

Luke 12:12 ~ For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.

John 14:26 ~ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
