As you may or may not know, depending on your location. This Monday is the Canadian Thanksgiving. So happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canucks.

In the remembrance of this holiday. I'm just wondering what you are all thankful for. What kind of messages or verses do you remember at Thanksgiving time? What kind of things does your Pastor preach about at this time of the year?

That God loves me
I'm thankful for a supportive, loving family.
I'm thankful for becoming a member of a church this year
for being baptized.
That I was able to witness John's baptism
That I'm going to marry John
That I'm employed
That I've found a place to serve in the church
That my future in-law's are WONDERFUL! :)

... umm BT... I could go on for a loooooong time.. so I'll just leave it at my newest collection of things to be Thankful for (and I know the first 2 aren't new, but they're too important to me to leave out :) )

Given my history... I don't know what 'pastor's' talk about this time of year.. I'm about to find out :)

Well Carina I am preaching tomorrow night and have been given the topic of "something to do with thanksgiving". I didn't really know what I was going to talk about until I started studying for it (which is usually the case). I found an interesting connection in the Bible. I'll be talking about

1) Giving thanks is a commandment (in both Testaments)
2) You want peace? Give thanks (the connection between peace and thankfullness)
3) Thank is a verb. It is an action word it is not just "saying" 'thanks' it is "showing" our thankfulness to God

So we'll see how that works out. When I started studying I became interested in what other kinds of messages were spoken at this time of the year...
