Gratitude is a God honored attitude." Our Daily Bread 11-25-04
Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the Gentiles, and sing praises to Your name. 2 Samuel 22:50 NKJV
This Scripture is the first place in the Bible that I can find the words give thanks. They come from a warrior. David had many battles to fight and the Lord God gave him many victories. These words of Davids are from a song that he wrote after God had delivered from the hands of all his enemies and from Saul his fellow countryman who had been trying to take his life because of jealousy. David was a great king and warrior, and was a very successful military leader when it came to taking care of the business of ruling a nation. His problem was that he didnt have the same victories in his own personal life. He had many wives and many children and there was always conflict in his home. He had problems with lust in his life, and as a result of this committed murder. Through it all, David always was able to see his own mistakes and was quick to come back to Lord God and repent. I feel that David knew he would not always be square with mankind, but when it came to God, he knew that there was no other way. Today I give thanks for the grace of God that was extended to me when I did not deserve it, and there was no way I could earn it. To be given another chance in life, a chance to make things right again, was something I did not deserve. I can never repay Jesus for the gift given me through the finished work of the Cross, the gift of forgiveness. All I can do is to remember to serve, as He came also to be a Servant to us. God did for me what I could not do for myself, I give thanks ..JRE
