Money's tight since I've been unemployed, and every little bit ain't such a "little bit," if you know what I mean.
So a monthly bus pass in this area is $70 -- a decent chunk of change, but necessary for some of my job search appointments, interviews, church attendance and ministries, etc.
So I was looking at Craigslist for a bargain and found one for $60 and thought maybe I could talk him down, and if not, ten bucks is ten bucks. But my September pass is still good and I felt like God was telling me to just hold on, because the October pass was going to get taken care of.
This morning I got an email from the folks who run our compassion ministry and they said they were going to buy a bus pass for me! Praise God. I said I could pay for at least half because I know that a month or so ago they'd reported that the ministry was pretty much broke, and I don't want to drain the funds. Turns out people had been donating and the church had a record of it which hadn't been reported to the ministry until now, so they're flush after all!
Thanks, Dad!
I've already talked to them about some possible fundraisers and will give it another shot now that they know me a little better. I don't like to be someone who just takes without giving, and though I've been pitching in where I can, my heart is really in stuff like this, and my "servanthood" has so far been used much more than my actual "talents."
Oh -- and it looks like I become a member there Thursday night. Another praise!
