  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thankfulness...

This is truly a word from my heart. I hope it blesses you.

Don't just be thankful for the things you CAN see; but also be thankful for the things you CAN'T see. Like peace, rest, joy, love, laughter, warmth, a sound mind, etc.

And also, don't just think of those things that HAVE NOT been done for you yet, but meditate on those things that HAVE been done for you already - like being able to survive a heart-crushing experience, overcoming an addiction, finding love and peace in your spirit in spite of your tribulations, having a breakthrough when things seemed impossible, for keeping you alive to bring love and hope to someone else, etc.

The more thankful you are, the more you will recognize how God has already poured out many blessings for you, and intends on blessing you with more - as you give thanks for what you already have, and follow his Word. This is where wisdom begins.

God Bless

Reminds me of the song " count your blessings", which reminds me of the following Psalm.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgives all thine iniquities; who heals all thy diseases;
Who redeems thy life from destruction; who crowns thee with loving kindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfies thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
The LORD executes righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Like as a father pities his children, so the LORD pities them that fear him.
For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom rules over all.
Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

Thankfulness is the key to being joyful in Christ. It is also the practical response to being freed from sin and death.

As a matter of fact, Paul lists a lack of thankfulness as one of the traits of those who are perishing.

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
Rom 1:21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

He also lists it as a common theme that will be prevalent in the last days:

2Ti 3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2Ti 3:2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Ti 3:3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
2Ti 3:4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
2Ti 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Thankfulness... it should be a way of life for a Christian.

Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
