  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My mom got two of these dogs a few months ago for breeding. We've had many kinds of dogs over the years, ranging from Shepphards, to mutts, to Fila Braselaro (sp?) to English Mastiff, currently Jack Russell Terrors (lol cute fisty liddle cridders!) and newly, the Thai Ridgeback.

They are hands down the coolest, most unique dog I have ever seen! They both have completely different skin types and coats and have complete different personalities. The female, "Sakuna" (sp?) (I guess it means Princess in Thai... ) is more horselike than dog. She prances everywhere, and every little movement is like a horse!! It's the funniest thing! She cracks me up! Her fir is extremely short and smooth...if you're not carefull you'll almost get a rug burn from petting the wrong way and is a dark slate color.

The male, Bo, is the most beautiful red I've ever seen on an animal. I've seen "red" dogs before, but this guy just blew me away! He's pretty funny too... when getting up on the couch he will NOT use his back legs! He will put his two front paws up first, and literally LIFT himself onto the couch! His back arches, and his back legs streach out, and he ssllllloooowwlllyyyy brings them up. I about die every time I see it!

Fully grown they will be about 40 lbs, so they're not a huge dog, but when they're mad the look VERY intimidating! Especially the female, as she has so many wrincles! lol

As soon as I can get some pics uploaded I will be sure to post them. I'm sure you guys will get a kick out of them! :)

That's the same color as our female. I'm taking it that is one, right? I've never seen one younger than about 5 months. :p

That is a cute puppy! I can't wait till we are able to start breeding ours!

Wohoo, I finally have 100 posts! Now I'll put up some pics of our two dogs...

The two of the red dog are of "Bo" the male, and then there is one of our female, Sakuna. Pictures don't really do her justice as she looks kinda ugly in the pic... lol But in real life she really is quite a good looking dog. :) And with her name meaning Princess... it is quite fitting for how she acts.

So, here are the Thai Ridgebacks!! :)

Please, when it does come time to breed, do not just breed the two you have together. Look at their health, genetic background, phenotype and lineage before breeding them. Make sure you and your mom produce the best possible puppies that are better than their parents through careful research and planning. That may mean finding a different female to breed your stud too, and a different stud to breed to your female.

That said, they are beautiful dogs.

Thanks, yeah, they're pretty rare. Only a handful in the US. Actually considering we had to fly them over, it was less than I was expecting! lol

My mom has done about as much research as possible, considering most documentation is in Thai. lol The breeder they bought from has an excellent reputation and so do the two dogs also have good backgrounds. One thing I learned from my mom when it comes to dogs is to DO YOUR RESEARCH! She is very selective about who gets her dogs and you can always tell the ones who just want a puppy RIGHT NOW. lol

Thanks, they are fun dogs! Kinda odd at first because you really have to teach them to play... you throw a ball and they just kind of watch it. With other dogs around they've slowly caught on.
