As someone who used to live in that hellhole of a state, I (and many others) am fed up with Texas. Perry is no better than Bush as a governor.

The thought of them leaving the US --- maybe to become a part of Mexico? --- is just too good to be true. One can hope and dream, right?

This governor was one that turned down federal stimulus dollars that would have helped pay unemployment benefits for its citizens. Oh, yeah, and don't even get me started about the Texas prison issues.

If I moved from Calif. it would be to Texas.

And if you did some homework HF, you'de find that once the
govt. hands you money, it OWNS YOU.
I wouldn't take a dime of fed money after seeing the
control Obama thinks he can take with it. Take that money
and Obama owns your butt.
No thanks.

Several states won't touch fed $$ for the same reasons. Plus,
when that money runs out, the programs started by it can't
be funded anymore and will cost the state MORE than if they
didn't take the $ in the first place.

Calif. took the $$ and STILL raised income, sales & vehicle taxes.
What the heck is the difference?

Worse, it just causes the inflation rate to compound as more money
that we don't even HAVE is used up.
GM is STILL having to go to bankruptcy after taking the $$.

This is a glaring mismanagement of an incompetent govt. gone
spend crazy.
Everyone's having to tighten their belts & budget more except
the feds. typical. They're so out of touch w/ reality it's
frightening.

yep...there are always consequences when we accept money with strings attached.

It's ALWAYS about the money.

I think Judas Iscariot felt the pain of his ill gotten gains.

Kinda reminds me of when I was younger...I bought my first new vehicle...and the guy I was dating at the time offered to pay it off for me.

I declined...he was amazed....and asked why wouldn't I take the money and let him pay off my vehicle?

And I told him...because then it would be your car...not mine. Part of the joy of having the car....was working for it.

What are we willing to give up for the promise (and more than likely empty promises) for a few dollars?

I dunno about the rest of you....but my freedom is worth a bit more to me than fed dollars.

I'm just glad our mortgage isn't with one of the banks that are now owned by the Gov...they could call in the loan...carte blanche.

....and the bank which we had our checking and savings...75% of their stock is now in the gov's hands...so we're closing our accounts and moving them to a bank that had the sense to just say no thanks...

...just like Texas!

And btw HF....Perry said he would accept gov funding IF there are no strings attached. Good luck with that though...no strings gov funding...now there's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one.

The most frightening words in the English language...

"Hi, I'm from the Governement and I'm here to help"

I'm sure Texas will do just fine.

One other problem, Obama has made other statements that he
didn't keep his word on.
He said he wouldn't nationalize the banks (before they took
the $$) & right after, he started delegating what they could
& couldn't do or HAD to do.

He says one thing but does another, who can trust him?
I sure don't & many don't now after seeing him in action.

Yeah...and the banks that want to pay the $ back...the Fed won't allow it...wow...what kinda unconstitutional crap is that!

Yep...He certainly is a man of action...and he's accomplished quite a bit revoking our Constitutional Rights...and he hasn't even been in office 100 days yet...

Look what he's accomplished so far in 87 days...imagine what he'll accomplish over the next 3+ YEARS!

I guess the bright side is this...the faster this world runs itself into the ground...the faster we get to go HOME!

I just wonder where the anti-big government people were the past 8 years when we were giving up our freedoms in exchange for "security". Now they have to deal with a President they disagree with but with all of the powers they gave to the former one.
I would support the small government conservatives more if they were more constant no matter who was in office.
Just goes to show that they are hypocritical and need to have a hard look in mirror. They also need to deal with the bed they made the last 8 years.

Oh...I think all of this has been in the works for a very long time...including during the Bush Admin...and probably way before that Admin even...these things don't just happen over night. This agenda has long been in the making.

I think it's just now all coming to a full head of steam with both a Dem Admin, House AND Senate.

I voted Dem right up through Clinton...but always voted Rep for the House and Senate...I liked that whole checks and balances thingy.

Sadly...I realized the big lie about half way through the second Clinton term...well...I was starting to get a clue in his first term...but just couldn't bring myself to vote for Dole...:sorry:

Anyway...we reap what we sow...and we deserve whatever lies up ahead. Well....53% of us totally deserve it.

I dunno...the Homeland Security thing bothered me...it seemed to be a sad but necessary evil considering 9-11...and this is exactly what happens when we give too much power to the Feds...regardless of who sits in the oval office.

Who wudda ever thunk it though...that Homeland Security would be listing such a large portion of the US citizenry as threats to national security....

Praise God...our hope does not lie in the hands of the Feds.

Many liberals won't have to worry about conservatives for much longer I suspect...rest assured...we'll be put in our place lickity split...;)

I hear they've made lots of room at Gitmo...:sorry:...Conservative Christians will be the first to go no doubt...and anyone else who has issue with the Fed Gov funding abortion, limiting free speech, taxation without representation...Tea Party anyone? Shall we go on?

Well...it won't be the first time Christians have been put in chains for standing firm for Truth...I knew it was coming...some day....I just didn't think it would be quite so blantant and overt this quickly. 87 days in office...WOW...when does the man sleep?

I knew we...as a nation by the people...for the people...was in deep doo doo when BHO publically stated...he found the Constitution of the United States of America fundamentally flawed.

And don't be misled...this is gonna hit libs hard too...they certainly will not be exempt...and may even feel it harder than we do.

This all may still take some time though...and Texas certainly won't take this sitting down.

What gets me heated is the fact I went to Iraq even though I did not agree with the war. I did my job. Now we are a couple of months into a new administration and the same people whom I supported by going to Iraq even when I did not agree with the war, want to break this country apart over one election that did not go their way.

Have your tax protests ,tell the government to stop wasting our money. But do it for the right reasons, for America, not for two party partisan politics(rant done).

Thank you Jack for your service...even under duress...and one of the things I'm so irritated about...Afghanistan and Iraq war Vets also made to the Homeland Security Threat list...apparently they have since issued and apology....goofballs...shoulda thought that one through a bit more before trashing Vets. OOOOPS....

There is much bigger picture and issue here than simply bi-partisan politics though...

...and I'm thinking these folks who are speaking out...ARE doing it for the right reasons...not just hey...a Dem's in the Oval Office...let's throw a fit.

Seriously young man...think it through a bit. It's not about who it is...it's about what's being done...to our rights and freedoms.

8 Years of people taking an ugly stick to Bush...wait let me rephrase that...8 years and still going strong with livid hatred for the man.

Many of us are showing respect for the office...even if we're not over the moon about who it is sitting behind the dest at the mo...but respect doesn't always mean agreement with the actions taken.

And..it really doesn't matter who sits in the Oval Office...or the House or the Senate...

God still sits on His throne...and He's in charge....:)...and He DOES have it all under control.

:amen:

So rant away...it's all good....:)

they did some homework and found out that all parties were
there at those tea parties.
And if you look at Obama's ratings, they're steadily decreasing
across the party line boards too.
This is people fed up with ALL politicians doing what they want
and ignoring us - - just like the media did in ignoring the tea
parties to keep us silenced.

That is what's going on - & they were screaming out against
the Republican waste that had gone on too. I watched those
tea parties for the entire time they were on Live - the people
are just mad at all govt. taking over and now becoming
dictatorial.

The new report about terrorist threats of Conservative Americans
being the #1 threat in the nation is just one clue to what's going on in this admin.
Alarming stuff - the focus is off the REAL threat of radical Islam onto
their own people!

Hey, I agree with Texas 100%. Do you want the Federal government in control of your thermostat, your garden, your toilet flushing, your children, even taxing the carbon gas you emit? It's ludicrous!

And whomever said in this thread that this has been in the works for a long time is absolutely right...think about your social security number, for example... it's not just an account tied to your name for future social security payments upon retirement. You can't get cable tv or utilities or a bank account or a loan or cell phone service unless you give 'em your SSN. Your SSN is tied to your credit report which then allows creditors to decide if you can buy stuff. It used to be that you sent away for your social security number when you were about 16 and started your first job. Now, they issue the number AT BIRTH! Basically, you can't buy or sell or live in American society unless you have one.

It was in the last 15 years that the grocery stores started using individual cards for shoppers so that they can compile the data on what you buy so that they can target you for marketing purposes. Think about how that can be used...they can track what you buy, how much you spend. So, somebody KNOWS how much wine or milk or toilet bowl cleaner is in your house or anything else they want to control or track or limit.

Now, our medical records are also going into a government-controlled central database. Imagine if they put the two together (especially since most people use the drug stores inside the grocery stores) and denied you a box of twinkies because you're 10 pounds overweight by government standards...or denied you medical coverage because you bought a box of twinkies.

The goal is to control every aspect of your lives or kill you by denying medical coverage to the elderly and disabled.

Texas definitely has the right idea.

FYI: Did you guys know that when the actress Natasha Richardson fell, there was no life-line helicopter available for her in Canada because it's too expensive. She had to wait for an ambulance and be taken by road. There's no apologies on the part of the Canadian government's healthcare system...because their bottom line is more valuable than human life. THAT is what we are headed for.

More and more reports are coming out of Britain for the same reason...women denied breast cancer meds because it's too expensive for the government to pay for it in their socialistic health care system, people having to perform their own dentistry...Australia is the same way.

Government is not the answer to any problem except maybe security of the nation.

Absolutely...and the deeper one digs...the more incidious the plot...which is why I stopped digging about 10 years ago...scary stuff in that pit.

So...I stopped digging...and now I just TRUST.

But now...this is just an in your face, blantant and overt skip right past socialism and head straight to a communist state of the union.

ooops...did I type that out loud?

For some FYI there also was a report on Left wing extremism. Both reports were commissioned by the Bush administration.

As far as the Vets it pains me to see us listed in a report like that but Timothy McVeigh is a good case of a Vet gone bad unfortunately...

The actions of one man does not build a good case against so many service men...IMHO

And I consider...there perhaps is a diff in building a report...and actually naming groups as terrorist threats to Homeland Security...

Those reports on LW Extremists were very percise, names, dates actual threats...not just a blanket accusation of certain groups.
