Hi, I just wanted to share a few testimonies I've found after some time investigating this gift:
These are examples of people who miraculously received the ability to speak in a foreign language that they didn't know how to speak before, and a native speaker in the audience understood what they said perfectly. If anyone knows other testimonies of this kind, please feel free to share here.

Many missionary servants have learned foreign languages quicker than the average language student, in their calling by God to serve in other countries. These servants have testified to this!

This gift in NO WAY speaks of the 'babbling' some Christians claim as an 'angel tongue' ----which in a few cases were discovered to be offensive statements against God as they let the enemy use them and speak through them. Our present language is quite sufficient for praise in the Assembly.

Awesome. Do you have any references to learn more about these stories in the mission field?

Yes, that's why I asked about Acts 2 type tongues. The testimonies I shared in the OP are about real human languages. That's why they are so impressive.

About people babbling tongues that turned out to be demonic, do you happen to have references to testimonies about this?

I have not personally observed that. But I do believe it! I hope this is not too off subject, but I will give my testimony of tongues.

First, the Bible says there is a kind of tongues that no man understands, but that we speak to the Lord. If no one understands, it cannot be for a foreign language speaking person.

Not long after I became a Christian I met some people who talked about the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues. I was interested in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, but did not want tongues! Too weird for my taste.

I got a book called The Holy Spirit and You, There was a prayer in there to ask
the Lord to grant the gift of tongues. I read it out loud. Not because I wanted the gift of tongues, I don’t even know for sure why I read it out loud.

The moment I finished that prayer, my jaw dropped. Suddenly I was speaking in tongues! If I wanted to. If I wanted to stop it I easily could. I found I could even sing in tongues.

Within three days I noticed a new peace that I had not experienced before.

Again, the Bible says there is a kind of tongues that no man understands. That is why sometimes we need interpreters. You don’t need interpreters when the foreign language speaking person understands everything you say.

I almost never understand what I am praying or praising about in tongues. I generally don’t even bother to ask. To me this is a gift where you totally turn things over to the Father. Often after I say a prayer in English, I will ask to speak or sing in tongues for the Lord’s will to be done, whatever it may be.

1 Corinthians 14:2.

King James Bible
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

All languages on the earth are known tongues. By some group somewhere.
