No debating please. This is a fellowship/testimony thread. Please respect it.

I am interested in testimonies from those who heard someone speaking in tongues, speaking in their native language when they knew the tongues speaker had not learned the language. Here is an example: Derek Prince led a non English speaking woman in Germany through to the baptism with the Spirit and when she spoke in tongues she started praising God in Oxford English. Dr. Prince ask the woman (through an interpreter) which she understood English. She replied in German that she didn't, and then she continued to praise God in perfect English! In another meeting, in Tennessee, an American woman praised God for an hour in French. These were witnessed by everyone attending those meetings.

I have not heard another clear cut example but I have had two experiences where I have spoken in a foreign language in tongues without even knowing. Once was at an R.W. Schambach tent revival. As he gave an altar call I was praying somewhat quietly under my breath in tongues. (Schambach was rather loud and I think there was background music too) At the end of the service a couple that were sitting in front of me asked if I knew what I was saying. I said no I was just praying in tongues. He told me I was speaking French and that I was saying stuff like "come to the Father. The second time was more recent. I was teaching a Kenyan friend about tongues and the gift "various kinds of tongues." As I prayed with her in the spirit over zoom, she said I spoke that "there are no limits" in Swahili." Sometimes I think I might be speaking a known language but mostly that is to myself. So limited experience. I originally wrote more, but it was too doctrinal so I edited this to what you asked.

Hopefully this helps, God bless!

I am a retired UMC pastor who has sp0ken in tongues, a highlight of my life. The UMC pastor who succeeded me told me that, while he was speaking in tongues in a prayer meeting, he was informed by a native Korean speaker that he was praising God in fluent Korea, a language he had never learned..

Back in 2004 my former church youth group leaders wife mentioned she spoke in the native tongue of someone, in africa on a missions trip. They had affiliations with burkina faso but im not sure where or which trip.

Anyhow, point is it seems to occasionally happen but i think that we end up hearing the 10% who boast vs the 90% who dont talk about it.

When I lived in Winnipeg, I heard about a pastor's wife in Saskatchewan who spoke in Swahili as verified by an African visitor who spoke that language. The pastor and his wife were worried about their missionary daughter who was trying to escape a dangerous part of Africa where Swahili was spoken. the interpretation of the message in tongues was that she had passed through the danger zone and would soon be home, The African visitor confirmed the accuracy of this interpretation as an accurate translation of the Swahili message in tongues.
