• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am not in a good place right now. I really, really am tempted to drink, just so I can numb out and not feel the physical pain and emotional anxiety I am experiencing right now.

I have been walking around on a broken foot for a month now, just not knowing it till about 5 days ago. In researching this particular fracture, I have learned that there are two options 1. cast...2. surgery.

I have been disciplined at work for my poor attendance, which is all legitimate sick days, but none-the-less, I have been warned two more sick absences will result in suspension.

I can't make my rent payment this month, because I screwed up my finances, and cannot work my second job because of all the health issues I have had lately.

My apartment is a mess, and I am at a loss to fix it.

I need a meeting really, really bad, and hate the physical pain it takes to get to one. I did get to one on Saturday and on Sunday.

Whats the hold up to get the cast on, or the surgery?

You are in my prayers right now.:groupray:

Just remember a drink will not solve your problems, you can get throught this

I so wish I was there to help you, if even to help clean your house. That always makes me feel better.

Big hug to you.

Call your sponser!

The soonest I can get in to see the doc is Thursday. I tried to get to see him today, but he is booked. I have a boot, which helps, but even after half a day at work, I am in agony.

Thanks for the prayers and sweet thoughts. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

I spent almost an hour crying on my sponsor's shoulder this afternoon already. I will call her again later.

Hugs,
Trish

Excellent

While using I fell down a hill at a wedding :p

I woke up to a ankle the size of a football, and my husband mad at me. So he didn't have any sympathy for me in the 4 hour trip home. I hurt so bad. Plus a hangover.

I had bruises going up to my knee, horrible looking.

Anyway they put a wet cast on it, and it really helped so much. You will feel better if they put a cast on, or hopefully a temp cast if your going to have surgery.

Can you put your leg up while at work?

Don't leave the office without better support, and don't feel bad if you have to take pain pills ( have your sponsor give you a daily allowance) thats what they are there for.

As far as your rent, jobs, or dirty house things always seem to work themselves out, its not worth getting drunk over it

Thanks again. I am currently taking a non-narcotic, which usually helps take the edge off, but hasn't worked much today. I do try to rest my foot during breaks at work. I even get ice from the lunchroom and make an ice pack with a zip-lock bag.

I asked for something stronger tonight from the doc, but there was a mix-up with an Rx in the computer at the pharmacy and the doc cancelled the Rx, and told me to go to pain management. I burst into tears on the phone with the receptionist.

Today I was absolutely depressed and discouraged, but I did not drink, or hurt myself in any way, shape or form.

Thanks for being here, for caring and for listening. My poor sponsor was on the phone with me so many times today, I can't count them. She has had me read Step Two twice so far, and I have followed her directions. In fact, she is the first sponsor I have ever listened to when it comes to homework, reading, or anything else for that matter.

I just hope I get through to Thursday without another melt-down.

Thanks again,
Trish

Bless you and bless your sponsor. Wish I could help.

Are you using any sort of cane or stick? Or crutch? I realize - from the interesting experience of a broken ankle while six months sober - that none of them do anything for pain; but at least they keep weight off the foot.

BTW, have you guys noticed that an old thread is active? Titled "Hi, My Name Is,"
it is on its 89th page. Seems that the guy who started it has fallen off the wagon; and the lady he helped get sober, online, is trying to talk him back. Worth a look.

I wish you to well. You are in my prayers.

I hope you will not drink. Don't contemplate it, don't try to convince yourself that things are bad enough.

And if you already did, stop now, it is not to late.
"Our greatest glory consists not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."

Feel free to PM me.

I like you to think how great it is to have free choice. Look at your hand, you can make it go wherever you want to. You might have pain, but you have life and free choice and that is great.
Don't contemplate the bad sides too much. Problems are there to be solved. That is our duty.
