Temps

My husband wants to start temping this month. Do I need to get a special thermometer? I've seen them at the Chemist, but will our normal thermometer do the trick? It is digital and measures to 1 decimal place in degrees Celsius.

You'll find a basal body thermometer a lot more helpful. It measures to two decimal places, and it's more sensitive than a regular thermometer. (Unfortunately, it also costs about twice as much, I think.)

I use a regular digial thermometer... it beeps and saves the temps for the weekends when I set my alarm take my temp and go back to sleep. =) a regular one works fine for me =)

I got my digital basal body temperature at Walmart.. it wasn't anymore than a regular digital thermometer.. maybe even a couple bucks less. Well not less than some of them.. there are some cheaper digital thermometers.. but it was like $8 to $10 I can't remember exactly. It's purple.

I can give it to you, but I haven't started temping yet.. I will start with the next cycle.. since I should be starting on some meds.

I got my basal body thermometer at Walgreens, I think I paid aroun $12 for it. It saves up to 5 temps, which is great- I don't have to record it right away (specially on the weekends)

mine saves one temp - which is nice - got it at CVS (for free - had a $10 off coupon).

I don't have a month of charts yet - I started charting mid-cycle, mainly to get used to it, and I'm glad I did b/c I had issues with the save feature. I wasn't able to figure out why it wasn't saving the temps, but come to find out, it was saving them, I just wasn't reading the instructions right on how to re-call the temp

You know, you can start temping (and checking cervial fluids, position, etc.) using FAM/NFP. It's good practice for when you do want to TTC.

Thanks! But we had to use Billings to avoid pregnancy for a while when we were first married, so I already do everything except the temping.

My thermometer only goes to one decimal point, but its good enough for me!
