I was a regular caller (enough to be known to and generally liked by the host) on a nationally syndicated conservative radio talk show for some years in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

I still like hockey, but we no longer have a bar/rec room and they just sit in a closet where nobody enjoys them.

People are totally not into hockey where I am. This is football baseball territory. We live in a drought-parched agricultural center of California. Very conservative, DRY, and old-school.

Most of the people here are GOOD folks--San Francisco Giants fans and Niners fans! But there are some moron Dodgers, Raiders, and for the love of God why--Cowboys fans!?

Basketball isn't at all popular here, but I'm a Warriors guy. I'm all Bay Area in my teams....

If I had to watch hockey, I'd definitely go Sharks.

I was being scouted for arena football at the age of 16. Because of family problems and my own problems, nothing ever became of my amazing talent throwing a football. I can still throw 60 yards accurately. I sometimes think about trying semi-pro or something, but for now flag football is enough.

I used to run a 4 1/2 minute mile. 6-7 minutes would be a challenge these days, though.

I have a friend with that same issue. "I only play home games..", he's fond of saying.
