  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Warning! This may be TMI, but I just want to get other parent's input on this...

What are your experiences with teething and your child getting diarrhea or other problems with it? My daughter is getting in her top canines (she gets in 2 at a time, & is way late with teething)...and has had diarrhea for about a week! But she's not feverish, not vomiting, eating great, sleeping well, in a great mood....basically totally normal except for her BMs!!

I was looking around online & saw that sometimes kids get "toddler's diarrhea"...I've cut out all fruits, & she doesn't eat sweets...any other suggestions on how to "stop her up"?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions....and prayers would be appreciated if you think about it!! :)

Teething just irritates some children's digestive tracts. Sometimes mine will have diarrhea when teething, sometimes not. Sometimes they have a fever, sometimes not. Sometimes they'll have a runny nose while teething, sometimes not. It's just par for the course (and since Tylenol runs down the immune system, I only give them that if they are REALLY in pain--otherwise, they just take it easy for a day or two during the worst of it).

As for her diarrhea, since it's probably teething related, I wouldn't stress about it much (unless she's going every couple hours or something! Then it's obviously something besides just teething!).

Feed her foods that are gentle on her digestive tract--chicken and lamb are usually great, good ol' banana's are always great at 'thickening' the bowel movements ^_^ , and rice is a great one ANYtime the tummy is having problems (I'm a fan of brown rice, of course, since it's healthier), etc... You're probably already doing all of this, but just thought I'd mention it. *grin*

Late teethers, in my limited experience, seem to have a harder time teething than the earlier ones--it's like the teeth take longer to push through or something, I dunno... Anyways, I'd not worry much about it. I'm sure it will subside in a short while.

Blessings,
Molly

yea, it's not every couple hours, not even every DAY!! I am doing the rice thing, cheese (I heard it helps "thicken" as well!), need to buy more bananas...since she is teething later than "normal" (whatever THAT is!^_^ ), I was thinking maybe she would have a harder time...but it's nice to hear it from a "seasoned" mom!! Thanks!!

My son didn't have a problem getting in his teeth. My daughter though is struggling with it. She's had diarrhea, runny nose, low appetite, a bit of a temp, extremely cranky, won't sleep through the night or take naps. Can we say nervous break down?

The things listed are great. Other that I try to get her into things that will distract her from the pain. I find a nice warm bath soothes her and she seems to like popsicles.

Either way I'll keep you in my prayers. It is stressful when your child is upset and there's not much you can do about it.
