I guess to start off, hello everyone!

Back in August my husband and I took over the teen ministry, with no experience whatsoever aside from having teens of our own.

Well, we love the teens but there's very little support from the Pastor or his wife (she wanted a teen ministry but is older) so, it was basically, "here ya go! Have fun!"

We've asked to speak with them on numerous occasions to talk about plans, curriculum, concerns, etc. And have been brushed off.

I'm getting the impression that they don't have any goals or plans on how they want it ran, just run the thing. Keep the teens out of trouble, which is definitely not our goal. We want the teens to grow closer to the Lord and want to serve him.

Has anyone dealt with this in the ministry?

Kind of. But I was given prepackaged curriculum that was so bad, I just ignored it. It was all about "What To Do when things Don't Go Your Way" and looked like rejected scripts from a "very special episode" of Full House.

So I went rogue and put a Bible study series together about the essential doctrines of Christianity and then did one on the Five Solas.

I think if you contact Founders Ministries, they'll either have some good material or will be able to point you in the right direction.
