So here I am trying to browse the internet on my Playstation 3. I wouldn't say it's a total disaster, but it's not fun. I'm lucky that this old crappy keyboard was lying around (*coughsister'soldkeyboardshedoesn'tusecough*) because I would have to type with a very slow keyboard menu if I didn't.

I don't understand how all you technology savy people can use internet on your phones or anything other then a PC/laptop. The screen resolution is too large on my PS3 and I'm getting a lot of lag. I don't have a good connection anyway.

So, I'm just dropping this random post to test out my PS3 internet browsing skills. My laptop had to be mailed in for repair. Technically I should have sent it out monthes ago but I have had to depend on it too much. After all I can't job search on my PS3. Controls are too clunky and my tv screen size is way too small. Enjoy my post anyway!

To be fair, more web sites are catering to the mobile crowd by creating web sites suited for mobile phones. I haven't had any problems browsing the web with tablets as well.

Now, the PS3 browser...sucks. I haven't used it in a long time and they may have updated it but when you can't get Java, Adobe, or Apple's software to run, really, what's the point? And I heard the reason for this is because of the weak CPU the PS3 has, which is also a reason why cross-game chat is not utilized.

Here's hoping the PS4 brings out all the bells and whistles.

Console Browsers tend to suck.
I don't have a PS3. but the 360's one is horrible.
No multi-tab, useless software keyboard, doesn't use the TV's full resolution, 24 bit colour, a little on the slow side, ETC.(And that's my best experience on game consoles.)

I've always got along with phones a lot better, though it's still three times easier to just use a laptop, a phone's perfectly adequate while out and about.

The Wii Internet browser is awful too. Te consoles are handy for some light streaming duty, but that's about it.

Yeah I noticed that this website seems to work fine. But when I try checking my email, I can log in, but then just get a blank white screen that never loads when trying to enter my mailbox. I'm not sure if it's like this for all email providers, or just the one that I happened to be checking.

Plus I can't seem to play videos online. I haven't tried youtube yet. I guess it doesn't matter because I never watch online videos on my PS 3 . Yet plenty of my friends on PSN list seem too, so I have no clue how they watch videos such as on youtube. I don't think it really matters though. I'm wondering, can you actually catch computer viruses on your console like you can on a regular computer while browsing the internet?

Most email inbox sites use JavaScript, so the browser probably lacks support for it. That's my best guess.

Well the browser likely doesn't support Adobe Flash.
So maybe your friends are using a PS3 Youtube App?(That is, if the PS3 does Apps)

It's not impossible(but unlikely), but I doubt any viruses are made to infect PS3's, so it wont be able to do any harm.(As far as I'm aware, i'm no expert.)

They could be watching videos off of Youtube that's specifically catered to the PS3, or they have Linux or other software which allows them to do that.

The problem with the latter two is that Sony no longer allows you to do that and they could ban you from playing online (Whole Jailbreak fiasco).

I don't have any plans to. I don't know much about it, but from what I gather its sales have been disappointing. I tend not to buy any consoles until they've proven popular. Is it just a portable console that streams to a TV? I guess I'm not clear on what makes it special.

I'll probably get a WiiU once some interesting Nintendo games come out on it, or Bayonetta 2, whichever happens first...

I tried the web browser on my Wii and I couldn't stand it- same issues as you were describing with your PS3. Plus most of the stuff on sites couldn't even load since it can run most plug-in's. Of course they're still going to advertise that it can do something to sell it- doesn't matter how well it actually does it.

It took me some time to get use to using my Kindle Fire to go online but it's pretty easy to zoom and out as I need to and I just use it to check sites- not actually post. I wish they could sell a keyboard that I could plug into my Kindle to use- I'm still way too horrible at using the screen one and it's too small for actual typing.

So even with those tech tools to use, I'm usually stuck on my laptop for most of the stuff that I do, which I really do not mind.

Hope you get your laptop back soon- I'm thankful I have some techie friends who can fix things so I don't have to be without mine for too long- I swear I go through anxiety and depression without my "baby".

Nothing really. Nintendo likes to repackage the same thing and slightly alter it. It isn't worth the money. It's the same thing.

It's a console which can stream some games to the controller.
The controller also has a touch screen, which is used in most games, as well as built in gyroscopes, camera, microphone, speakers, ETC.

It's sales have been pretty disappointing.
It really is just a beefed up Wii with more gimmicks and better online functionality. So unless there's games you want that are only for WiiU, there's not much point getting one.
