I discovered his books this year ...

I don't know where to begin to share what God has done and is doing for me thru the ministry of Neil T. Anderson's books ...

Years ago, a friend told me he was coming to lecture at her church. It was a sort of invitation for me to go. But I was sort of a 'know it all' back then (lol! ugh!), and confused as to who he was, and so I didn't go, and I can honestly say that I regard that decision 'not to go' as one of the biggest mistakes of my Christian life ...

Then again, a few years later, I picked up Anderson's CD set "The Bondage Breaker" ... it must have been 'on sale' or something ... but I never took the time to listen to it. (ugh!) Yet another mistake ...

This year, wrestling with some things, I actually took time to investigate his stuff.

And I did "The Steps to Freedom in Christ" ...

... suddenly I realized I'd found exactly what I've needed, though God** had tried twice before to get me into these materials.

I am so excited to see this thread here this morning, MollySue!
(Just yesterday, I walked thru "The Steps to Freedom" again ... )

Let's do talk about it! :)

What book or books have you been reading?
(Got a favorite?)

p.s.
**Yes, I do believe it has been God, the Holy Spirit, leading me towards the truths I have needed to know ...

What is a truth encounter .

In my book its simply believing what Jesus said and acting upon it,

Amazing how many don't.

The bible is so simple a kid could get it with the holy spirit assisting.

Knowing who we are in Christ is a matter of standing on the promises he says about us.

It's not a big deal- but people refuse to believe.

Believers and unbelievers.

I believe once you get to the root and surrender completely to Jesus as he requires all these things take care of themselves.

Thereafter you may not the 'odd' power encounter to deal with other lingering issues.

Many of us struggle with issues ie we suppress negative emotions because we are 'Christians' and ignore these emotions but eventually the pain comes out in a bad way. Whereas This author shows us how to to deal with these issues by admitting to the Lord how we feel, seeking his forgiveness and His power to move forward.

I am away til Thursday and will be back when I'm able so please continue to share

I would say he is spot on. When satan comes tempting or accusing, is our shield of faith up to quench his arrows? This shield is NOT that we are children of God, for we have done this much and still we see that we fall.

But what happens when we are tempted and instead firmly believe we are new creatures, not the old weak us, and take our stand that we are not I the flesh and owe it nothing?

What happens when we are accused of being crummy sinners, we say "Yes, that WAS me, but is me no longer"?
What happens? Satan has nowhere to attack, for like Jesus, he now has "nothing in us". It is when our testimony becomes:

"I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but Christ now liveth in me, and the life that I now live, I live by the faith of the son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

...that when we will find real overcoming victory. THIS is our shield. There is safety behind it. Will we raise ours, basing our deserving it on what Jesus did on the cross, not on our strength of resolve? He died, but so did we! He rose to newness of life. Have we? Yes, we have, but it will not profit us until we grab hold and believe this amazing truth with all that is within us.

Sister, it is this truth being revealed to us again in these last days that swill lift us up from religious service to becoming truly one church without spot or wrinkle. Changes are coming and they will blow our minds.

May God richly bless you with all wisdom of who we really are in Him.

Gideon

That is where I believe you are mistaken, Gideon.

"WE" have not all done this much ... as you say.

There are many believers that have not yet grasped their new identity in Christ.

And that is one of the foundational truths upon which Neil Anderson bases his books and ministry ...
and what those of us that are 'like-minded', 'like-concerned', 'like-set free', 'like-grateful' will be discussing in THIS fellowship thread ...

(And if you should disagree with what I, or Neil T. Anderson, believe to be true ... that's surely okay, but I do ask that you'd please start another thread where your views can be discussed rather than for us to sidetrack and begin discussing/debating the validity of his works or his message in this fellowship thread.)

God bless :)

We haven't yet had too many threads opened under the new CF Fellowship thread rules, like this one has been. Maybe it would be helpful if I posted this link to the forum posting guidelines, for those that might not yet be familiar with them:

Sister, I fear my wording my have lacked "intelligent coherency" LOL. When I said "we have all done this much", I meant we all here have become children of the most high. We are all saved, and yet still, we do not, as a whole, see or experience the victory the we are destined for. Saved, but not safe....yet. There is more to the glorious gospel, and it is exactly what this man has stated. We have not come into agreement with our God as to who we are in Christ. We are new, the old man is passed, and now God asks us to step out in faith and reckon that our new man is freed from the power of darkness,

Can I stay now? :)

Yeah I could do that, but then I have to decide what is true or false, which is why I asked here. But I suppose I'll just leave it alone, if no one can tell me here who the man is I suppose its not worth my time. Thanks anyway

i get you on that... its a minefield out there.
i googled him and as expected...got sites telling me everything "wrong" with his theology.. -no surprise there .if it was all sweetness id be more concerned.
but schools of theology never hold much sway with me...
i have utmost respect for the likes of smith wigglesworth for instance ...not because of his theology but his evidenced practice of life in God.. casting out demons, healing the sick, raising the dead..
With such a foundation of the manifest power of God ,i'm keen to heed what he had to say. for he did not convince by clever words...he told what good works god does ..then he Did them. Very persuasive to say the least.

i'll check out the content of his( Neil T. Anderson) teachings later :)

That's not for me to say, bro ...

I am confused. I am wondering if you even read some of the posts that I share. Literally every single one of them has to do with us being transformed into overcomers by believing who we are in Christ and then acting on it by putting our new nature on.

Why the animosity? I clarified my purpose in the first sentence of my first post, that I agreed with him in that area. Again, I am a bit confused by your responses, especially the second one after I explained myself.

Great book.

And I really like this quote of his:

"The most important belief we possess is a true knowledge of who God is. The second most important belief is who we are as children of God, because we cannot consistently behave in a way that is inconsistent with how we perceive ourselves."
