You have to remember, Jesus, who's word you are arguing against, told us that in the last days, the many would follow after false doctrines, while only the few would follow after sound doctrine.

So when you say that I'm reaching only a few people, you're right. But they're right people.

You and the crowd go ahead and follow your false doctrines. You're just not going to be happy until you find someone to scratch those itching ears of yours.

as with all tv evangelists and anybody for that matter, just be careful who you eat from. use discernment. all teaching and revelation is supposed to agree with the Word of God line upon line, precept upon precept.

i dont really have a personal view of TD Jakes. i barely watch any tv evangelists anymore. the reason is because there is a spirit of heresy in the land, and many preachers are being led astray by seducing spirits. not all of them, but most of them are. a lot of them have been 'given over' to these spirits for various reasons. but God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him through Jesus, not through a televangelist

i asked God to lead me to a church of truth. that is where i am fed. in everything you have to walk in discernment. know God for yourself and read His Word for yourself. as long as you know God for yourself and are being led by His Spirit, there is no way you can be led into error. His sheep know His voice

i dont know about any of these rumors, but what i do know is that our salvation is not based on TD Jakes or any other tv evangelist. it is based on the atoning Blood of Jesus. and only Jesus is our Mediator between us and the Father, not man

First off, let's not turn this into a "last word" contest. You both want to be right, and it's understandable, but to keep baiting each other and squeezing in meaningless "told ya so!!" posts is inappropriate.

I do agree with Mike on this. The Trinity is not an aspect of our faith that can be debated or misunderstood. As Mike brought up earlier..... when Christ expired on the cross, since modalists believe that God/Son/Holy Ghost are the same manifestation of one God, wouldn't that mean that God and the Spirit died with Him? Wouldn't THAT, therefore, mean that until Christ was resurrected, we were a world without God? That He and the Holy spirit were literally deceased? Not the case - they are 3 separate manifestations of God Almighty that exist in unison. Father, Son and Holy Spirit have and will always exist simultaneously. After all, who would Christ have been praying to? Of whom did He ask this:

Matthew 27:46 said:
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Goes all the way back to Genesis:

Genesis 1:26 said:
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[b] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

Who else could the "us" be? Who else could have been there with God? Simply put - God was there alongside others, which is why He used the word for "us." and the "us" were Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Also, in the New Testament:

John 1:1 said:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Clearly, God was not alone. To say otherwise is to speak against the distinct teachings of the Trinity.

I agree our little spat was a little childesh but I say he started it... hehe.

Anyway, enough of that.
You are not the final answer on the perfect understanding of the trinity, God gave us the bible and its the nature of the game that we as christians don't always agree on it.
You give your scriptural reasons on why you believe it should be understood the way understand it, we have scriptures that support our beliefs also. the Bottom line is, our salvations do not depend on the extent of our understanding of scripture (even if T.D. Jakes was wrong about his belief on the trinity) it doesn't matter. You misunderstand things also, becuase you aren't perfect, it doesn't make you a heretic, just a Child of God who didn't and can't save himself and will never be without need of Gods grace. This accusing word called "Modalism" is silly and draws completely unneccesary lines between brothers in Christ.

Just trying to help you understand where I am coming from... do you really think that his this one theological diffrence in him dictates that he is a complete heretic? I mean really... he loves Jesus and he isn't really discredited by many for anything else except his understanding of the exact nature of the trinity?

If God is one person or 3 persons, does that really upset our ability to be saved and know him personally? Isn't this a bit like fighting over what shoe size a man weres?
It certainly is important information, but it doesn't seem to be salvation critical information. There is much in the bible that we only continue to learn and understand as we grow to know him more and our growth of understanding really doesn't end does it? That doesn't mean we can't help teach or preach, the basics are down and clear, but whether the trinity is this or that is something many people have always disagreed on, and it doesn't keep us from getting saved does it? or limit our ability to know God does it?

It just doesn't seem to me that it would.

It's a difficult topic to address. A good friend and spiritual mentor of mine once explained to me that some denominational differences in belief were one thing, but on the subject of the Trinity, it was crystal-clear and not to be trifled with. I've always taken that attitude since.

The concept of the Trinity is of extreme importance. Someone with more Biblical grounding/knowledge could probably explain this better, but that's my 2 cents, brother.

I will flip through Christian television occasionally. I really just look for an encouraging word here and there. When I am not studying for college courses or reading/studying my bible, I think it's nice to hear an evangelist. I don't follow any one televangelist close enough to learn thier particular doctrines. I do believe many of these programs are just plain off. I saw one guy selling some oil... This just makes me read the bible more.

As you can see from this discussion and any disagreement between people of the diffrent beliefs, it actually is not crystal clear, both beliefs have scriptures that seem to support them. People may be completely confident in their beliefs, but the bible does not lay the answer out crystal clear, if so one person isn't just wrong but guilty of actual purposed mistreatment of the scriptures as well and that is a huge assumption to make.
