I, too, have heard good things about the Crouches and their integrity and that they do have good hearts for God. Jan does need some help in the hair and makeup department, IMHO, but on the other hand, Lord haste the day when people pay more attention to a woman's ministry and anointing and less to their hair, makeup and wardrobe! I am a product of my Christian culture :sigh: .
Hi Kidsminister, I once saw a website devoted to proving that Jan was a false prophet simply because of her makeup and hair. (the woman that runs the website claims to be Christian, what she really is, is a faultfinder, she looks at all of us WOF preachers to misintrepret something we say)Made me sick on my stomach. I have been to churches where the subject of TBN would come up..The first thing out of peoples mouths would be her hair--I would correct them.

Blessings,
Joe

Thank you guys for your honest opinions :)

To those discussing Oneness and Trinity, please don't debate about that here. I wanted to know peoples thoughts on TBN and TD Jakes... So many people seem to speak negatively on them, but when you ask them for proof, they refer you to what OTHERS have said or written instead of giving you their own testimony :)

I am here in Dallas as well, never have been to his church - The Potter's House, but that was because I allowed what OTHERS said to dissuade me. We Christians are more quick to tear each other down than the world.. goodness.

Who cares if she has pink hair or plastic surgery ? The Word is right when it says man looks at the outward.. b/c that is what you guys are doing. Pay attention to what is inside rather than what is out...

I personally like TD Jakes. I don't watch him on TBN because I don't like watching TV preachers (nothing personal - just my attention span :) ).

I pretty much don't watch anything on TBN for the same reason. And yes, I think Jan's hair is a little over-the-top. That is my opinion. I don't hate her for it - I don't know her personally, so I can't intelligently form an opinion about what is on the inside. But if she likes big, pink hair and it makes her feel attractive and improves her self esteem, then I say more power to her, and who cares what people who don't even know her think?

The only thing I don't like about TBN is the Praise-a-thon, where they will have people on there who say "God has a special word for someone out there, but only if you pick up the phone and make a pledge." To me, that is manipulative - how many people pick up the phone and pledge, thinking that they are that "special someone" that God has a word for? Do they give back the pledge if it turns out that God doesn't have a word for someone who calls in? Or does God have a word for everyone who pledges? I'm not trying to be facetious; I am just a little confused as to how that works!

Please  ! Doesn't that person have anything better to do? How does bad hair and makeup make one a false prophet? Maybe if she was representing Mary Kay...

much like some in Hollywood many on TBN have made strange comments.

http://www.geocities.com/Bob_Hunter/tbn.htm

has a site filled with the comments that have been said that have made many question TBN and their legitmacy as a Christian TV Network and TV Ministry:

I will post about 6 or so comments below to show you guys why some have a beef with TBN:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doctor Fred Price for instance has said:

The whole point is I'm trying to get you to see - to get you out of this malaise of thinking that Jesus and the disciples were poor and then relating that to you - thinking that you, as a child of God, have to follow Jesus.

The Bible says that He has left us an example that we should follow His steps.

That's the reason why I drive a Rolls Royce. I'm following Jesus' steps.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fred Price also has said:

You can talk about me all you want while I'm driving by in my Rolls Royce that's paid for, and I got the pink slip on it.

Talk all you want. Bad mouth all you want.

Don't hurt me in the least.

Doesn't bother me.

It's a whole lot easier to be persecuted when I'm riding in my car and I got the pink slip than it is when I'm riding in a car and owe my soul to the company store.

Kenneth Copeland has said:

"You don't have a god in you, you are one." (The Force of Love audiotape, 1987)

"Now Peter said by exceeding great and precious promises you become partakers of the divine class. All right, are we gods? We are a class of gods!"

Paul Crouch who by the way also has a obsession with the phrases HERETIC HUNTERS and HERESY HUNTERS (though he wont ever comment what those phrases mean) and also covered up the death of a False Prophet he promoted named Richard Eby has said:

It is Zechariah, chapter 5. Listen to this: "Then I turned and lifted up mine eyes and beheld a flying roll." A very interesting book was written a few years ago by an engineer who disected this whole passage….But he proved well, what is a flying roll? It was a thing that they wrote on and - it was a scroll.

It was a message of communication. Well, today the roll, and it is still a round-looking scroll, is the Hughes satellite that's up there, and what was fascinating, it says "and I answered - and he said unto me 'What seest thou?'

I answered 'I see a flying roll' or scroll.

The length thereof is 20 cubits, and the breadth thereof is 10 cubits."

He measured that out and it comes to 15 feet by 30 feet.

It is exactly the size of the space shuttle that takes two satellites up there - 15 by 30, the exact dimensions.

And he said, this scroll, or whatever it is, represents the curse that goest forth over the face of the whole earth. It goes into the homes, it goes into houses.

You know, and if I had time I could show you how we are not a part of that curse, but satellite and television is, in many dimensions, sending a curse into the homes of the people of this world.

Well after I dig past Jan Crouch's purple hair, her makeup, her dresses for 16 yr olds, which is going to perish with the using, I find a heart that would probably do anything for you, a heart full of love, which will not perish. What do you think Jesus looks at when He looks at Jan? Is she in trouble with God because she can't make a fashion statement?

We need eye transplants, people. Lets put on our spiritual eyes that can see the heart.

I have only seen Jakes a few times. I liked his message.

Denial of the Doctrine of the Trinity

Questioner: My first question would be, the Trinity would be defined as one God Who's revealed Himself in three distinct Persons, each co-equal and co-eternal. How important is it for the believing Christian to hold to this belief?

T. D. Jakes: I think it's very, very significant that we first of all study the Trinity apart from salvation, and first of all that we embrace Christ and come to Him and come to know Who He is.

Having come to know Who He is, then we begin to deal with the Trinity, which I believe is a very complex issue. The Trinity, the term Trinity, is not a biblical term, to begin with.

It's a theological description for something that is so beyond human comprehension that I'm not sure that we can totally hold God to a numerical system.

The Lord said, "Behold, O Israel, the Lord thy God is one, and beside Him there is no other."

When God got ready to make a man that looked like Him, He didn't make three. He made one man.

However, that one man had three parts.

He was body, soul and spirit.

We have one God, but He is Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in regeneration.

It's very important that we understand that, but I think that the first thing that every believer needs to do is to approach God by faith, and then having approached Him by faith, then they need to sit up under good teaching so that they can begin to understand who the God is that they have believed upon.

("Living by the Word" on KKLA, hosted by John Coleman, Aug. 23, 1998)

This description of God is one common in Oneness Pentecostal churches.

Maybe I should become one of those Oneness Pentecostals, then.

But that is a question of debate. No one is denying that Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are the same... just done in a different way. And he is right.. the Trinity is not a biblical term.. It isn't found in the Bible. It is a way that man has tried to explain God. Now..

Some churches claiming the Pentecostal label hold to "Oneness theology", otherwise known as Modalism, which denies the traditional doctrine of the Trinity. The largest Pentecostal "Oneness" denomination in the United States is the United Pentecostal Church. Oneness Pentecostals, sometimes known as "Jesus only" or "apostolic" Pentecostals for their belief that the original apostles baptized converts in the name of Jesus only, believe that God has revealed Himself in three different roles rather than believing that God exists in three distinct persons sharing one substance.

You are still believing that Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are the same entity in SOME form or fashion...... correct ?
