Since I have withdrawn my membership at my former church and will become a catechumen on sunday, when would it be appropriate for me to change my insignia next to my name? I don't want to offend anyone.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am very much looking forward to my journey as it is laid out in front of me. I see so much beauty in the Orthodox faith already and I know that I don't really know anything yet.

Me too....and I go to the little bookstore knowing that the exact same books are there that were there last week, but I always go back searching for a new one. I thank you for your patience with me and probably should thank UWS as well. I just don't really go to that board anymore. It is just too hostile for my own spiritual health. Although without it I probably wouldn't be where I am now either.
It's funny that you mention the suddenness. Because my wife wanted to convert a while back but I was resisting and she kept calling me Jonah.
Thanks again for your faithfulness and keep it up, you never know who you might have an affect on.
