Yes, of course, men also; I was think of the context of your sister. Yes, the family commemoration thing has become a leading reason for ppl to get inked - and maybe for some of them the only reason they would contemplate it, right?
I guess No. 12 won't be your last one, either.Absolutely. I've got 12 tattoos altogether.
The age to do it varies from state to state; in some states it's 18 but not all; don't be too surprised if eventually one or other asks you to do some designs.I have three nieces. My older brother's daughter is the one with the tats. My sister's girls are 14 and 8. Much too young for ink.

Winter_Rose:I'm from the UK and the law says that you must be 18 to get a tattoo.

Oh okay; I was actually responding to William67 but he seems to have deleted his posts.
Personally I think to be 18 before doing it is a very good idea.
It kind of becomes a rite of passage for 18 year olds, right?
(Some ppl wait longer before doing it; others never get around to doing it.)
Yes; some people are pressured into not getting them. And probably some ppl are also pressured into getting them.Yeah, I agree. People get tattoos for different reasons, but maybe some don't get them because they don't like needles or they are worried about what other people may think of them or they are pressured into not getting one.
PS: Do you think 18 is a suitable age?I'm from the UK and the law says that you must be 18 to get a tattoo.
Well, it's an adult decision, isn't it?I'll be 18 in 2 yrs & I'm probably still going to be too indecisive for tattoos. Like I said b4 I wish there were more fake tats that looked real. That would be fun.

Seems you do like tattoos, though.
Well, sounds like no one in your immediate family has a permanent tattoo, otherwise it might be far more likely that you would regard doing the permanent tattoo thing at 18 as a matter of course event to be aiming at. Not always the case, mind.Yeah but tbh a lot of 18 yr olds I know don't seem like real adults to me. We have 18 & 19 yr olds at my HS. They're treated the same as the rest of us.
I like some tattoos. Some are tacky & awful but some are pretty. I wouldn't get a permanent one ever but maybe I'd get a fake one that was cool if it looked kinda real.

Well, they look real!My friend designed temporary tattoos that look authentic. I am wearing them for a dance performance.I don't plan on ever getting a real tattoo but I like painless, temporary forms of body art like stickers and paint.

Well, they look real!
So what do you think of the career of tattoo artist?
I guess you mean that although you really like permanent tattoo art, you yourself would not be prepared to go under the inking needle as professional tattoo artists are more or less expected to have done. Thanks! I think they're lovely and look realistic, but they didn't involve the pain or the permanency of an actual tattoo. My friend designed the temporary tattoos for a class she was taking at the design school at our university for enrichment (it's not for her degree), and people have been so enamored with them she might make it into a side job.
I think being a quality tattoo artist would require a tremendous amount of artistic skill as well as care since your "canvas" is a sentient being. I much prefer painting on surfaces that don't bleed or have feelings!
