People change over the years and what seems like a good idea now may not seem so 10 years down the road. I have several tats myself and sometimes wonder why. :)

I honestly love my tattoos, so does my wife - who finds them attractive. She's asked me numerous times when I'm getting more or if I'm thinking about something new.

It's very important to know what you want and to see the art before you make a decision to put needle to skin. Also, find an artist that understands the forms and contours of skin and it's effect on the symmetry of the piece. Remember, skin is three dimensional, an image on paper is not.

This. I'm sporting three tattoos that I don't necessarily regret, but they're ugly now. I have a Hello Kitty on each bicep and three stars between my shoulder blades. It's a little embarrassing to be in your thirties and sporting Hello Kitty ink. And then my husband, who thought an inverted pentacle on the inside of his left wrist was a great idea six years ago, is now deeply ashamed of it and is struggling to find a way to get it covered up.

There was a time in my life in which I did enjoy body modification. I got piercings, tried to stretch my lobes, got tattoos and dreamed up more. It was part of the lifestyle I was involved with at the time, but now it's just not who I am any more.

I'd be worried about the permanent commitment - and the injunction against body painting, which has more to do with culture conflict with pagans, is still valid.

However, we abide in grace, not law, so if you feel like you're able to live within the will of God while getting a tattoo, that's your concern and nobody else's.

I personally find tattoos to be a little too "me too!" to really be interested.

Well there goes the neighborhood lol (above pic). Anyways I have 3 tattoos. One is the sacred heart on my chest, PUSH on my forearm (pray until something happens), and ctl3 on my other forearm for my initials. I have no guilt with this. I agree with what has been said that the scripture in Leviticus is referring to Pagan rituals etc and Isn't that rule strictly for Levites anyways?? Anyways the way I see it is I believe Jesus saved me... tattoos aren't stronger than the blood of Jesus if it were a sin. But I do not believe it is. If it is, then don't put on make-up, do your hair, put in ear-rings, or where nice clothes: Walk around in rags with ashes on your face.

I have really been wanting to get a tattoo (Christ related) lately. A lot of Christians I know have Christianity related tattoos and it just doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I know there is conflict whether Christians can get tattoos or not but I think that it can help express your faith and have meaning. Any thoughts??

I have 4 kids and three of them have tattoos. The one who didn't get tattooed said he didn't because the OT says in Lev 19:28 not to tattoo our bodies. I read that verse and it says in the NIV 2011, “‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.
Now the Hebrew word for tattoo is כתבת / kĕthobeth, and means;
impression, inscription, mark
a) in the flesh, perhaps a tattoo

It can mean a tattoo like today or it can mean a tattoo for the dead or a mark in the flesh like some African tribes still do today. It seems related to practices that came from Egypt as they were big into marking for the dead. I'm not really sure but I know ONE thing, it is NOT for us to follow. It is Old Covenant Law and we are NOT subject to it. If anyone believes we are then read verse 27 and tell me if you've broken that law and how you feel?

It is something to not be undertaken lightly, it is something that you must measure the consequences on, just like piercing your ears or coloring your hair pink, but permanent. My son-in-law just told me he is getting a Medic Alert tattoo for his diabetes. I think it's a great idea...he'll always have diabetes and he'll always have the tattoo.

If you are questioning the act already? Dont do it. If you are following someone else and what they do. Dont do it. Is this something of the world? Jesus came into the world, for the sinners. Now that He has come do we act like the world? What we do is between us and the Lord, What will the weaker Christian see in this, and how will they react. The choice is yours, follow the Lords will in it. He has not changed and will not change. Bottom line is do your possesions own you or do you own your possesions. God must always be first.

It is a command in Leviticus not to tattoo our bodies, so that should stand out the most. But let me tell you, as a person who is covered in tattoos, don't do it. I wish I never got any. I started getting tattooed when I was 15 on my arms, legs and back. Then I had all those covered with huge tattoos because they were horrible and faded. These days I wish I had never got them and now am at the point where getting them removed by laser is futile. They also become addictive (trust me). It is a waste of money and I would compare it to putting a bumper-sticker on a Mercedes.

I kind of like the fact that I have no tattoos, even though it's got some appeal. I think having a tattoo is pretty common these days - so to be the opposite is kinda cool.

Yes sir, the new tattoo is no tattoo, keep it that way.
