  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Leviticus 19:28: Never slash your body to mourn the dead, and never get a tattoo. I am the Lord.

Aaaand we can't eat shrimp or have our steaks too rare, and we have to have our hats covered all the time, and really, no work on the sabbath, not even moving your tv antenna or turning on a light switch.

According to Acts 15:28-29, Gentile Christians do not have to follow the whole law, so many of the prohibitions do not pertain to us. This includes the mandate against tattoos.

This isn't to say that tattoos are my thing. I think a lot of tattoos are in bad taste, and lots of people get them just to get them. I think I look better without ink than with.

Would Jesus be sitting in a tattoo parlour getting a tattoo? Yes or No? If you say no, then live your life as Jesus would, and avoid getting tattoos.

God bless.

Let me know the next time you walk on water, cast out legions of demons and go 40 days without food. PM me. Until then... don't judge other people and their relationship with Jesus. Who incidently, we are in a relationship with, not some... religion.

Whats your opinion on them?

What if you want a tattoo to show your faith to God?

1. They give the distinct impression of being amateurish graffiti criminally placed over a true work of art.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well. <-----> Psalm 139:14

2. If we are to "show our faith to God", wisdom and Scripture dictates that we utilize manners and methods which are "God sanctioned/approved".

Tattoos are not.

Forbidden explicitly in The Old Testament.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD. <-----> Leviticus 19:28

And "ruled out", in principle, by The New Testament.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
<-----> 1st Peter 3:3+4

Tattoos obviously "adorn outwardly", the apostle Peter exhorts that we seek "inward adorning" as the approved alternative to the "outward kinds".

An example of inward adorning is described by the phrase "a meek and quiet spirit". Or in other words, " a humble and calm disposition", which "shows one's faith", is distinctly prescribed in The New Testament... while having something printed on our flesh falls into the "outward adornment category"...for anyone can have something printed on their flesh...but not everyone can be an actual example of Christian faith by being consistently modest and peaceable; Peter states in verse 1 of this chapter, that such a display of faith is persuasive even when preaching is not !

May The Lord Be Magnified !

The New Testament distinctly revises the stringency of Levitical dietary laws, and the observing of Holy days. It does not distinctly revise however, "making cuttings or marks upon our flesh.

There's a huge difference between judging what is right or wrong, and judging another person.

For example: for one to share their conviction that tattoos are inappropriate, is not at all the same as saying, everyone who gets one goes straight to hell.

We are told to "prove all things, and hold fast to that which is truly good."

Because The Lord is merciful and longsuffering, we who have done wrong can still have a strong hope of Salvation...but that doesn't mean that doing wrong is then somehow okay...because there is also the law which states we may indeed have to reap what we've sown.

Wherefore, we rightly urge ourselves and others to abide/cleave to those things which we understand are good and pleasing in God's sight, based upon His Word especially The New Testament, and our experience with His Holy Spirit.

Now I ask you, could you seriously see Jesus sitting in a tattoo parlour getting a tattoo? Yes or No? Why are you too frightened to answer the question and why do you sidestep it?

I can see it.

And I have no tats, nor will I ever get any.

I think people need to stop imaging a porcelain Jesus figurine as the True and Living God. :doh:
