This is a holy temple of God. Our body should reflect Him, and He never had not intended to get a tattoo. I know that sin mars, whether the person wanted it or not. Even age mars this Holy Temple. To deliberately mar this body even if it is "in honor" of Him, is questionable. It is almost like the dark ages where certain groups would whip themselves for religious reasons.
If I was to look at a tattooed person and believer who was also a tattooed person, what kind of witness is that? I refuse to mar this Holy Temple of God. I don't even have my ears pierced. But that is just me. If someone already has a tattoo, I over look it in an effort to see beyond the marring, in order to get to know the person better.
I believe that when He comes, non of His children will have any mars, whether from illness, accidents, age, or tattoos. So in this frame of mind, I believe it is temporary and not the best witnessing tool.
