The only time I've seen tattoos endorsed is in times of persecution. I believe that the Copts in Egypt still tattoo their children with a Coptic cross lest they be kidnapped and forced to be Muslim.
I personally don't particularly care for them.

The whole modern inking seems to be purely out of some sort of social rebellion, anti-social behavior, or ego (not necessarily all of the above).
Needless to say, with the exception given above, I find the whole phenomenon, at least as practiced by the West, just egotistical.
Erm...what?God does not like them, you can get diseases from them and the can invite demonic activity into your life just like practicing witchcraft. So I think they are wrong.
From the official stance from the EOC, we are not supposed to have tattoos either.Tattoos are forbidden in Judaism, but don't think Christians really care about them aside from the ones in bad taste.
