  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hi! So this fall I plan to get my first tattoo. I'm going to get cherry blossoms coming down from my ankle across the top of my foot. I like the beauty and also the symbolism of cherry blossoms. In Japanese and Chinese culture, cherry blossoms represent feminine power, beauty, love, and the transitions of life.

Do you guys want/have any tattoos?

I don't have one yet and I haven't gotten anything specific planned yet, but I'm most definitely going to think seriously of getting one. I'd love one with christian symbolism in it, perhaps a fish? or a a cross of some kind? I don't know yet. I'd need to figure out what kind I'd like the most and then think about it for another while; right now my principle is that I'd only take the tattoo if I would be able to look at the picture and still love it after having it as my PC wallpaper or something for a year. ;)

Yeah, it's definitely important to think about it, that's why I'm letting the though simmer a few months before I take action. I don't want to get older and find out I want it removed or something :(

I want to get two hearts interlinking each other on my wrist and a heart with a cross in it on my back with the words, "We all have wings to fly, but some of us are to afraid of falling" and eventually a blossoming rose with the words, "I survived suicide, 10-13-02" somewhere on my body.

the dilemma with getting tattoos is people want to make sure they "still wanna look at it for the rest of their life". its not so much as that but if it has meaning. all my tattoos are "plain" and "cartoony" and i am kind of sick of looking at them but they have such a special meaning that ill never regret having them. silverkisses idea is fantastic. youll always remember why youre still here

I plan on getting one some time this year. Probably around the end of july close to my birthday. I've been thinking about this for the last two years. I've always wanted a lady bug or a sparrow. I wanted a sparrow because of Matthew 10:31, adn the hymn too, and the sparrow is going to be holding a yellow ribbon, probably with my b/f rank or what ever since he's in the army. Ant the lady bug because its an old nick name from when I was a lil kid.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

I wouldn't go putting ink upon the wall of the temple (the skin). If we were to put ink on any other wall, wouldn't that be classed as graffiti?

The fact is our bodies do not belong to us, they belong to Christ who bought them with his own blood. You do not have permission to go any put this stamp on your body.

Are you honouring God by doing this or dishonouring him? Let's think about it. If I were to sculpt a statue and someone came and painted on it, I would be very angry and disappointed. My hard work, dedication and care, ruined because someone else thought their "artwork" was better. Do you think your "artwork" is better than Gods? Isn't what God makes good? Can man improve God's design? No, so leave your body how God intended it to be. This goes for piercing and dying of the hair too. God has made us the way he wanted us to be.

Genesis 1:31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Psalm 139:13
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

I don't want to offend God by putting a tattoo over his design. I will simply thank God for designing me with good health and a nice body.

I am getting my first tattoo next year. My sisters and I are all getting a matching one ( i have 5 sisters)
then my brothers who are all hard core about everything want to get the family crest on our shoulders or something so im probably going to get that one done too.

my thing about tattoos , is that if you want to get one then thats your thing. I think its best that people should get one that has meaning to them and something that they can look at for the rest of their life and still be proud of it or it still define them in some way. maybe thats just me though......

Well the Bible says a lot of things.... :p

Tattoos/Piercings will not condemn you to hell, and it shouldn't be considered a sin either. And if our body is God's only, don't be eating ANYTHING but what is healthy for you.
If your skin isn't yours to do as you please, then neither are your internal organs. XD

Good point, but I need to gain weight somehow or I won't put on muscle.

I can get a tattoo when I'm 16 (I'm 15 now) I think I'm going to get the Tree of Life on my shoulder with the words that are underneath my username. It translates to "She flies with her own wings" and it's the state motto of Oregon, so it has double significance to me. I'm excited! :D

Drink a gallon of milk a day for a month. Works wonders for skinny guys.

As for tats, some sort of Celtic or Nordic design would be pretty gnarly.
