  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I left last Wed on a long weekend trip to KY to visit my family, leaving Andie in the capable hands of my dear hubby....I get a call on Wed night from the ER of our hospital, seems Andie had been running & fallen....cracking her head open & requiring 5 stitches!!

Talk about a trial by fire for my poor husband....he's never had to watch Andie for more than an afternoon, here I go leaving for 4 days & something like this happens the first night! Luckily, there were no complications & he handled it like a trooper....all the blood, seeing her forehead cut down to the BONE...having to deal with a hysterical 3 year old, then waking her every 2 hours that night, dealing with her getting sick to her stomach from the pain meds...:sigh: ...but now he's got so much more confidence with her, I can tell in just the week that it's been, and their relationship has changed so much...daddy was her hero before but now, boy, it's like he hung the moon!! lol:sorry:

Anyways, just wanted to share...she got the stitches out today, here's a pic of her...

She's beautiful!! Sorry that happened though.... glad you're back! I saw a commercial for mederma (spelling?) that helps reduce scars, maybe you should try it.

I have had quite a few moms who've been through the whole stitches thing tell me about mederma (I just copied your spelling! lol:p ), and after these steri-strips come off I'm going to try it. They swore by it!

Poor Andie!! Good job Dad! My hubby doesn't do well in emergency medical situations so it'd be interesting to see how he would do - not that I'm wishing that on him.

That's funny, because that's kinda what my SIL said. (They have a 1 year old) She said her & her DH were talking about it and how they would handle it, like what would've been his first instinct, that kind of thing. It's something you don't think about until it happens, then you just kinda got to act on instinct and auto pilot!!

My son did the same thing in Walmart, except I had to see the whole thing, from him falling, his head landing on the sharp corner, picking him up and seeing a big bloody hole in his forehead, him screaming bloody murder, and not knowing how to get to a hospital because we were out of town, and it was snowing outside. I'm a nurse, but I was lightheaded and had to keep telling myself not to panic while everyone was relying on me to figure it out.

Not to mention that when he got his stitches, the wound wasn't quite numb enough, so I stood there trying to console him as he screamed bloody murder as they stitched him up. I still can't get the image of him falling out of my head.

I know what you mean though, when my son was a baby, I worked full time over nights and hubby shared 50/50 with the care, sometimes he did more 60 and me 40. The problem was that we both didn't share the same careful mentality about it, he'd fallen off the changing table and couch several times when hubby watched him, and hubby didn't seem to concerned about it "he's a boy", so when I lay to go to bed, I had to turn the fan on high and literally pray that the lord would watch out for my son so I wouldn't worry as much, though I still worried a lot.

I got woozie (sp?) just reading your post....all the blood...and must you say 'to the bone'? I think I'm passing out....... :o

 ahhhh, men!:p I think Ty was just on auto-pilot....he's since told me that now when he looks at her all he sees is the "gaping hole" (his words!) in her forehead....I think it'll take awhile for that image to go away. Yet another reason God had me out of town when it happened!
