he did not name all the animals.... he could not have..... there are animals in the oceans that Adam probably never saw.... not to mention those little insects and such....

Jesus is the English name to the Hebrew name Joshua/Yeshua. He was not the first human male with that name its only Anglo Saxon culture who seems reluctant to use that name for their boy children, the Latino/Hispanic culture uses it all the time.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.

First I was being sarcastic - I'm sorry I didn't make that obvious.

Secondly, I believe there was a post about God being put on the spot and He needed to come up with a name - which I believe is ridiculous.

I hope that clears it up a little - if not please feel free to continue discussing this, I'll check back.

We know He has no name. When Moses asked for one He had to make up one on the spot and He gave Him a verb. It was the Hebrews who made up lots of names for Him. Strange thing is He answers no matter what name you call Him. He is more concerned about those who take His name than about those who use what they they think is His name.

Scripture please to back this up.

are you claiming that Adam didnt finish his job that the Lord gave him to do? That was his job, to name the animals. Are you doubting his ability and intelligence to do so?

Can you back this up with scripture? That is, your position on him not naming all the animals.

What does it mean to take the Lord's name in vain? We have always seemed to equate this with swearing but it just occurred to me that is USING the Lord's Name in vain. The commandment forbids us from taking the Lord's Name in vain. This reminds me of the fact that a woman takes the name of a man when they get married. Probably the commandment is not about swearing at all but about individuals who claim the name of the Lord but do so recklessly.

America is a country that has no tradition. But when you go to China or the middle eastern countries, the name is of great importance. The name of the family represents its reputation, heritage, privilege...

The name of a family in these countries are regarded higher than life itself. This is a foreign concept to American. But not so, in the bible.

For example, when Josheph met strangers, he introduced himself as the son of Jacob. So this tells people what kind of family he came from, where they lived, what they do, what kind of reputation or honor the family has.

The bible likens the LORD as the husband and the church as the bride. When you are married into a family, you have to behave a certain way that's according to the family honor. Or sort of the saying 'a chip off of the old block'.

When you call yourself a christian, meaning christ-like, you have to act according to His character, otherwise you take God's name in vain.

Actually God goes by many names or titles. If you consider those hebrews were inspired to write the bible, then they didn't just make them up themselves.

When Moses asked what His name is, He said 'I AM that I AM'. In hebrew this is 'EHYEH', meaning the self-existing one. EHYEH is the root of YEH which means God, which is the root of YHWH.

Moses is the combo of two Egyptians words mo and seus. Mo means water, ses means saves. Moses means water saves or saved by water. Jesus is made up of two YEH and SEUS, means God saves.

It must mean what it says. Claiming that He is your Master and not representing Him as you should. Making claims about Him that you ought to know are false, etc. We need to remember that those commands were not given to the "heathen" but to the "chosen people."

Every name of God denotes an aspect of God.

Elohim means the covenant maker.

YHWH means the judge.

You would think the name/title 'Lord' is all the same, right?

But if you look up KJV (in the earlier published ones anyway) the word 'Lord' in Gen 2:4 is all caps 'LORD'. And in Gen 15:2 is 'Lord'. The case matters.

Look up your hebrew lexicon,

all caps 'LORD' is OT:3068: the hebrew tatregramaton: YHWH.

'Lord' is OT:368: is Adonai.

Totally different meanings. God put them there arbitarily? They reveal different aspects of the deity.

Yes, it was sarcastic and it made me smile! And I was curious how you personally made sense out of the pieces parts Trinity when at the same time sensing that nothing is outside of God. I find it all a bit mysterious.

There is a post in the traditionals hangout that essentially suggests that God is male and proves it from all of the references in scripture to "Him." To have the female polarity outside of God could be one of the more ridiculous ways people are unconscious to their own programming. And fears.

However, the Trinity for me has always produced a small disconnect because of its specificity. My feel/sense is more aligned with a Kabalistic cosmology. But, as with many things, I don't really know. Maybe in that unknowing there is the discovery of God!

I have given my opinion about the male/female aspects of God in another post, but I'll repeat it here. Just my opinion mind you.

I believe that God perfectly embodies both male and female attributes or characteristics, for we are created in His image. When He created man and woman He separated these attributes into the different genders. When a man and a woman come together in marriage they become "one flesh".

Again just my opinion.
