No idea what you're talking about, but sure, you're free to believe whatever you want.

I believe this is academia's go-to rendition of Genesis 1:

So people can critique embedded age all they want.

Until they come up with something better ... well ...

You're still not making much sense. My point was just to make sure people understand that your beliefs about embedded age aren't shared by many other Christians (I can't think of any denomination that teaches it).

It's no different than the Christians here arguing for a flat earth or geocentrism. Non-Christians hopefully appreciate how those are just fringe beliefs and not reflective of the majority of believers.

So should I accept that subset of academia that shares Babylon's rather unique beliefs, whose beliefs are not reflective of Christianity as a whole?

I think you may need to realize that what my "subset" of Christian academia does with its analysis of ancient Mesopotamian beliefs isn't identical to what secular academia does with those same beliefs ......... and this is where some of the disconnect is here, I think, brother AV.

It's not worth much trouble to critique it. It's best to just ignore it.

And they'll stay fringe beliefs as long as academia -- even when invited to discuss embedded age -- prefers to talk about anything and everything but embedded age.

Like a student in math class wanting to discuss geography, then complaining he failed math class.

Actually, I'm going to be on the side that thinks it's useful to engage in since it plays into the way in which any of us perceives what the collective message(s) of the Bible may tell us.

Ya -- better to discuss the resurrection, Corinthian creeds, the price of tea in China, and our President, isn't it?

Personally, AV, I'm not really overly concerned by your choice of interpretation for Genesis chapter 1. If Embedded Age Creationism "does it" for you, then please feel free to affirm it. It neither chaps my hide nor removes the shirt from my back to allow you this.

As far as I'm concerned, we can disagree with the first 11 chapters of the Bible and the last 11 chapters of the Bible, and I think we can still reach across the aisles of faith and shake each others hand.

That's one way to spin it and I'm sure it's also shared with flat earthers, geocentrists, and adherents to every strange made up belief.

Understanding it might help ... ya think?

And how are you going to understand it, unless you ask questions?

Isn't that the academic way?

As long as it's done with humility.

Those issues at least have some relevance to my daily life.

I don't think you realize how "strange" cosmic evolution comes across to us either.

"Strange" and "made up" are relative terms, are they not?

Well I'm glad you can come into my thread, where I invite academia to discuss embedded age, and find relevance to your daily life with your disrespectful side issues.

I already essentially understand it since, believe it or not, I've studied all of the major interpretive positions for Genesis 1-11. I'm not really wanting to ask you questions on it because I've already made my interpretive bed.

But you can still give me 39+1 lashings with a wet noodle if that feels like it'd be compensation for my lack of further inquisitiveness.

Probably about as strange as a spherical earth comes across to flat earthers.

Sure, except embedded age has no basis in scripture or science and is effectively just made up.

That's about right.

Throw in a little blasphemy here and there, and you got it pegged.

Sure, except embedded age has no basis in scripture or science and is effectively just made up.

^_^ -- thanks for making my points.

You wanted questions on embedded age. I asked my question and you answered it. What more do you want?
