Matthew Henry in his book,
EXPERIENCING GOD'S PRESENCE has this to say to us: "You should entreat God so that you may have wisdom, in whatever company you find yourself in, to do good and not harm to them and to get good and not harm by them."
I find that quite profound when it comes to continueing my journey of recovery. I must look after myself always with the help of God.
He does want us to take care in who we choose to be around. Reding through the book of Proverbs will certainly set us straight on that issue many times over.
Sometimes, as S.I. individuals it is our ownselves that is the company to bring harm. In our lives with God, Who is always with us because of His Great Love, we ought to think before we act. Our choice before Him ought to be to give ourselves that which is good and not bring to ourselves harm.
God meant for us to experience joy in our lives. That is what salvation is about. David cried out in his deliverance prayer, "Restore to me the joy of my salvation." Psalm 51:12 God desires us to be in the business of building up one another and to invest in ourselves. See Ephesians 4:16 and Romans 12:1,2.
Let us move forward together heart to heart and in the great power of prayer lifting one another before the throne of grace and do good for each other and for ourselves. That we would also bring no harm to another
nor to ourselves.
May your hearts be filled this night with His peace and comfort for your souls.
