  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love this movie. I'm a sucker for action movies anyway, but I'm not used to seeing one with an actor of Liam Neeson's caliber in the lead role. It would have been easy for it to be just another action flick, but Neeson's performance elevated it to another level and made what would otherwise seem extremely absurd scenarios at least acceptable and non-cheesy (and yes, that is a compliment).

Taken is not Sci-Fi, you must be thinking of another movie..that or you don't know the definition of Sci-Fi.

I LOVE this movie. It's usually not my type of movie, but this one grabbed my attention and kept it the entire time.

I think we're talking about the drama with Liam Neeson?

I didn't like it. It was like the abduction of the main character's daughter was just an excuse to enjoy watching him kill a bunch of people.

Well...I was talking about the Liam Neeson movie. Now I feel kind of foolish b/c I may have weighed in on the wrong movie.

In every action movie there is an event that happens that is the reason the rest of the violence takes place. Do you not like any action movie? I've never seen one where people did die or at least get hurt.

I loved seeing that nothing would stop this father from getting his daughter back...it's what any good parent would do (or try to do, most of us don't have those skills:p)

I do but that's just my opinion. Maybe it's just that I've seen too many of these kinds of movies. It's like I knew exactly how the rest of the movie was going to play out as soon as the daughter was kidnapped, which made the plot too predictable and so I couldn't find it to be emotionally engaging in any way.

Braveheart is an example of a flick with a similar plot line but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think it had a lot more depth (it wasn't all about revenge), so it was more believable and much more enjoyable.

Ok, that explanation was better...the first one alone doesn't make any sense to me. I get emotionally involved easily when it's a parent-child thing. :) I knew he would find her at the end, but I liked seeing how he got to her.
