In this dress up contest I would like you to wear a cross, hold a cross or show a cross on your screenshot in a way.

I would like you to write (abt. 150-250 words +/-) about the effect the quoted Bible verse has on you personally. What does it mean to you to ''take up your cross and follow Jesus''? Does it mean just to bear burdens and suffer hardships for the Lord, or is it about a total dedication of your life to Him? Do you trust Him enough to let Him take total control of your will and your life? Is there anything specific in your life that really costs to sacrifice in your daily walk with Christ? Have you found joy in your surrendering to Jesus?:)

PLEASE SEND YOUR LITTLE ESSAY TO ME IN A PM!

This is not an easy subject, so if
you don't want to give your personal ''testimony'' about this, then it is OK, and you may rather quote a Bible verse that speaks to you about living as a Christian.

This contest begins today and ends on Saturday Oct. 20th. There is room for max. 20 contestants. I will take your screenshot when you are ready.

I need 3 judges, so please tell me if you would like to be a judge.

The prizes are:

1st prize. 2,000 blessings
2nd prize 1,500 blessings
3rd prize. 1,000 blessings
4th prize... 500 blessings

May God bless you, as you walk with Him.

Taking up my cross and following Jesus is a joy in my life today because I am sharing all of the adventures with HIM. It means that life happens and stuff happens and in spite of it all, I can walk with my head high and praise HIM knowing HE is working it all to good as HE has promised. No matter how it looks for feels on any given day, I can trust that HE knows what is best for me. Learning to depend on HIM and not on my own strength has been a challenge through the years, but today I know that I need to just get out of HIS way and allow HIM to work in me rather than doing everything I could do in my own power to make things happen. HE who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it!
It means not allowing circumstances to determine whether or not I am having a good day, but to base my day on my relationship with HIM.... and when I do that, every day is successful in spite of the circumstances! My cross is living life on life's terms and looking to HIM for what needs to happen rather than everyone else.

To me taking up my cross and following Jesus means making him not only my Savior but also the Lord of my life. Becoming a Christian does not mean your life will become a bed of roses, but rather ..a bed of THORNS. Those that come to Jesus looking for happy happy, fluffy fluff will be disappointed. You can find JOY in the Lord even in the midst of hardship and suffering, sure, but not every day is about how good you feel. Its really not even about YOU, its about Jesus. As Christians we are called to be selfless not selfish. We are to die to self and live in him. I have been called to DIE to many things since coming to Christ. We are called to obedience (and notice die is in the middle of that word..not a coincidence!) Obeying Christ means living each day doing what HE wants you to do and not what YOU want to do. Its following him even in the littlest things. Having a relationship with Christ is only part of being a Christian, dying to self and becoming part of Christ’s body and being his hands, mouth and feet is the rest. That means we will suffer, but he will suffer WITH us! I am so thankful to Christ for what he has done for me. Dying is surrendering at every moment..over and over…. Giving my family, my plans, my worries, my possessions, EVERYTHING to HIM! I have a long way to go, but am working at it. Reading the bible, praying, fellowshipping with other Christians all help in bringing me closer to my Lord. The more I know him, the more I want to BE like him!!

Take up your cross and follow me.
For me this is a matter of trust. I’m a born skeptic. I want to know the why and why for behind people’s motives. It’s not that I don’t trust people, it’s just that…well…ok, I don’t trust people easily. Trust is sacred to me. I always loved God. Christ was always my savior but I never trusted Him enough to let go of everything and jump headfirst off a cliff into the abyss of the unknown. That would mean I didn’t have control! About nine years ago I made a decision to go back to school to become a nurse. I knew that it would be financially difficult, sacrifices would have to be made and what if I didn’t make it? I worried myself sick over the decision for months. Then I knew that the only way to do it would be to turn over my life, my finances, my household and my future to God.
Nine years later I am an RN doing what I always wanted to do. We never went broke, He always provided and He got me through Pharmacology 101!
Nine years ago I jumped off that cliff and I haven’t stopped jumping. If He says ok…then I say, Last one off the cliff is a rotten egg!” Taking up my cross is all about trust. Complete and full.

Matthew 16:24 is a challenging passage for me as I naturally tend to take control of situations, fix things if they are not working and get things moving if they are not happening quick enough for my liking. God has given me the verse Jeremiah 29:11 as reassurance that when I take up my cross and follow his lead he has blessings in store for me; I will not be in control but I will not be harmed either. God really showed this to me this past winter when I took my cross all the way to Russia on a mission trip. I was in an unfamiliar place, I couldn’t speak the language and I was not in control of my situation at all, the translators and team leader were in charge of everything, the only option I had was to follow their lead. I was challenged but was rewarded, just as God had promised. To me taking up the cross and following Him is much more about giving God the control of my life and acknowledging that he has preordained plans for me Rather than the actual serving part. I would happily serve God if I was in control of it all but giving Him the control and moving out of my comfort zone is a little harder but something I am accepting more and more, Russia was just the beginning!

The therapist, Jack, headed toward the weights against a far wall. I shuffled along behind. I followed as best I could, holding onto the crutches for support, trying not to stumble. The car accident had done its damage and I was here in the physical therapy department of the hospital, relearning basic movements and skills that I had taken for granted. I could barely grasp a doorknob. The exercises hurt.
"Pick up the hand weight," Jack said. He was thorough. I leaned over, my cross necklace dangling in view. It reminded me of God's love always with me. On the 35th try I got the weight in my hands. And dropped it.
Jack cheered and coaxed until the burdensome object was again in my hands. The whole time a certain phrase went through my mind: "Take up your cross ..." This was my cross. Nobody else could do this for me. I trusted God to give me the strength to persevere.
I followed Jack's lead through many hours of PT. Under his guidance I progressed from being unable to grip a hairbrush or stand alone, to cross-stitching and running 2 miles a day. The weight of my cross strengthened me. :tutu:
'Take up your cross and follow me' means leaving familiar things in the past, taking risks, and walking with Him on a straight and narrow path. There are joys but also responsibilities.

You don't have to post your written material right away. Your screenshot first will be just fine.:)
