  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Take THAT Brad Pitt! ...

Robert April, Christopher Pike, James Kirk, Willard Decker and Spock are locked into a steel-cage fish-slapping death-match.

Each man is at the height of his physical prowess.

The only kind of physical contact allowed is fish slapping (so no Vulcan nerve pinches or death grips or whatever).

What kind of fish does each Captain use?

Who goes down first?

Who emerges victorious?

Ah, one of the timeless questions asked by all great philosophers.

Robert April: As an animated captain, April would probably use Flounder from "The Little Mermaid." He would be at a disadvantage as all cartoon characters from that era were substantially less flexible than their live action counterparts.

Christopher Pike: Since you qualified that he is at peak form, we will assume that he doesn't need a "wheelchair" with a single light that allows him to say yes (one beep) and no (two beeps). Clearly, he would have a pike at his disposal.

Williard Decker: is a flimsy character at best. As such, he would wield some sort of bottom feeder like a catfish.

James Kirk: The true captain of the Enterprise would probably have a swordfish because he would be hoping for a repeat of the duel with Trelane.

Spock: Spock is, at any point in his life, the most fit of the bunch, due to the slightly higher gravity of Vulcan. Plus, he nearly killed Kirk on Vulcan, even when Kirk's shirt was ripped. But he's wily, so he would probably carry a clam.

The Battle: Kirk and Spock would run off to one side while the other three are fighting. Decker would go down real quick, and April soon after. Then Kirk and Spock would emerge wielding a cannon they'd constructed from fish guts. They'd fire the clam's pearl at Pike severely wounding him. Then Kirk would grab Pike's pike and hold it to his throat. Then he'd think better of it and yell (to no-one in particular), "No! No! I won't kill him?! D'you hear?!" Then Spock, carrying the sword from Kirk's disemboweled swordfish would kill them both.

Which fish is the most enjoyable to be slapped with? Which is the most enjoyable to slap others with?

I find it most enjoyable to be slapped by a sardine. I most enjoy slapping others with a Great White.

Willtor, why were the only really good ST:TOS movies the even numbered ones?

It's the "evens factor" that one uses to help calculate the quality of a TOS movie. The evens factor is a type of statistical clumping that applies to plot content and quality writing.

You must choose: you are a flesh eating worm or a dung eating bird, which would you rather be?

I would rather be a flesh-eating worm. Actually, if you asked me what kind of animal I would like to be, this would be high on my list of candidates. The dung-eating bird is just gross.
