One thing I have come across lately online and in person is Christians who get very stand-offish when it comes to aliens/extraterrestrials. Some shrug it away like it's nonsense. Others get defensive as if it challenges the very fabric of the Bible. Some don't have a problem with it. Some even say that if aliens landed one day, we should probably share the gospel with them.

I wonder what would happen to the faith of those who 'scripturally' can't come to grips with the idea of sentient aliens beings, if by chance a flying saucer landed on CNN tomorrow. Would it be shattered?

I know some atheists who can't wait for the day when/if aliens are proven to exist, not for the 'wow' factor or for the excitement that we are not alone, but so they can laugh at Christians (for some reason, many atheists believe aliens make the Bible obsolete).

I myself never really understood why some say aliens go against scripture (I dont think they do) and don't think too much about it either way. In a way I find the idea interesting. If they show up one day (or already have)....cool (unless they are crazy and want to exterminate us then not so cool) and if they don't show up....whatever.

What are your thoughts on aliens?

Honestly, I really don't think much about the idea of aliens...or fairies, gargoyles, elves, etc. If they affected or had something to do with our salvation it would be in the Book.

It seems common for some to lump aliens in with mythological creatures. I suppose since neither are proven, it can be seen like that for some. We however have a vast universe out there filled with millions of other galaxies all filled with planets. We have even started discovering planets that have similar characteristics to earth. To ponder the existence of extraterrestrials is reasonable. Gargoyles and elves, not so much.

I know that beings exist that I can neither see nor touch. I can't imagine what they look like or how powerful they are but I know that they are here right now. The Bible calls them angels. As for alien beings that God may have created on other planets; Eh, if He did I will not question Him but if He did then why did Christ come here and then ascend to His throne not to those other places. I do know that the Bible tells us that principalities and power in heavenly places might look on the church and see the manifold wisdom of God. It doesn't say that they look at other places to see it
. Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Eph 3:10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
Eph 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

This could be allegorical as well, but it speaks about creatures or beasts with the likeness of certain animals. The Bible shows that life here on this planet isn't the only thing to know or see. The Creator loves us and didn't make us to dwell in this sinful state.

"And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Yahweh El Shaddai, which was, and is, and is to come."
