  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Marilyn Manson needs to leave the classic (yes, classic is my opinion ;) ) songs of the 1980 alone! First he butchered Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), then killed Tainted Love.

I like some of his music, but his remakes are  :sigh: .

That's true (good catch btw), but the 80's version is the one I like. ;)
I think there should be a legal limit to how many times a song can be remade.... I mean come on... if we keep going at this rate we'll have a new version of the song every ten to 15 years!

He's made himself into a pastiche for some reason. He should get back to doing original material, unless of course he's run out of all his half-decent original material.

Soft Cell was the band who did the 80's version of TAINTED LOVE

They were a one hit wonder band

Gloria Jones, wife of T Rex singer Marc Bolan. originally did this song in 1964.

And it was originally a soul song.

No they weren't, there was also Memorabilia and Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. That makes them a three-hit wonder. :p

Not to mention that most covers of Tainted Love are based on the Soft Cell version (at least in my experience, having heard about 4 or 5 different artists play the song other than Gloria Jones or Soft Cell).

I think that Gravity Kills did a better job of covering it than Manson did.

I've never even heard of gravity kills, I'll have to check them out.
The cover of "Personal Jesus" is on the album Superstarved, just to point you in the right direction.

I'm pretty sure the extent of their mainstream success was in the mid-90s when Industrial Metal was really popular, and I'm also pretty sure their two most popular songs are "Guilty" and "Goodbye" ("Goodbye" is actually featured on the soundtrack to the first Mortal Kombat movie).
