Tablature, and its use

I play guitar in contemporary service, and would live to find some tablature of contemporary Christian music. But what are your thoughts/knowledge on using tab from the net? I don't want to deprive any artists of their rights, I just want to use the music as a form of ministry.

I've never considered tabs to be robbing an artist of their rights. The only problem I see with getting music (sheet/tabs, not mp3's) from the net is that lots of times it's flat-out wrong.

They're right - it's only wrong if you're trying to make money from it or charged admission to a show and included it in the set.
If you intend to make money then obtain the rights by contacting ASCAP or BMI (whoever holds the copyright). They both should have web sites.

Furthermore, a lot of times they don't sound close - either it's wrong or you spend time trying to figure out the special tuning.

You do have to pay for some license thing for almost any songs that you use at a church, whether you make money off them or not. CCLI license or something like that I believe.
