  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 1:5. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience
to the faith
among all nations for His name.
Hebrews 11:
8 By faith Abraham obeyed
when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
9 By faith he abided in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise...
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them
afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were
strangers and pilgrims..
1 Peter 2:
11
Beloved, I beg you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war
against the soul,
12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Genesis 12:1. Now the Lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country,
from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.
Matthew 10:
37
He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son
or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
Luke 9:62.
But Jesus said to him, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

The faith of Christ that worked in men and woman like Abraham and Rehab in James 2. It worked in them to both will and empower them to do the good pleasure of will of God, just as us today..

Not of their own selves they had none (not little) that could please God. A person must be born again in order to have little faith. We have that power of His faith as a labor of His love in our earthen vessels of clay or bodies of death but are never to assume it could be of us.

Yep thats what those verses say.. maybe clue people into what your trying to say? Just a thought.

What is interesting about Abraham is all that is not written here. What is seen is faith and stepping out blindly believing God will fulfill what He promised. Awesome.

The scriptures say quite a bit on their own. The clues are in bold.

This thread was moved from Covenant Theology as that forum is for discussions of a specific theory of theology.
Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given
to those who obey Him.

Again, obedience is not as aspect of being in a covenant with YOUR LORD. Fascinating theology.
