Any suggests for multi-volume systematic works? (BT, did you get the Schafer set, what do you think of it? Is it worth the cash?)
You've got a picture of Lewis Chafer in your profile so I suppose you've study his?

Yes I did get the Schafer set. I haven't read much of it yet but I'll do some digging in them and give you an honest opinion.. A couple other sets that I do have that you might like

Systematic Theology by Norman Geisler - He's in the process of writing it, up to 3 volumes now (I have all three) now though you (and I) would disagree with his ideas on soteriology (salvation) he is a scholar indeed and his other areas are phenomenal. But this set only has three volumes to date.. so it's a build it set..

Systematic Theology by Charles Hodge - Now this is one of the old-time scholars. He's a calvinist so I have some issues on his soteriology (but you won't have many). One draw back, is that he refers alot to the latin fathers and quotes them often in Latin... so if you know Latin (which I do not) then you'll get more out of it than I did. Either way it is a great set and very reasonably priced on CBD.

The writings of Augustin - Now this is a set that you'd love.... just be warned Augustin had some weird ideas but there are many good things to be learned from him.

Now if you have a couple hundred bucks to spend..... I just bought a set of the complete writings of the church fathers... Ante Nicene, Post Nicene.. all of 'em. 38 volumes.. This set usually runs for 1100.00 US, but CBD has it on for 199.00 US. I HAD to buy that! I got my set awhile ago and it's incredible, some of their writings are included FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ENGLISH. Incredible set... Now these aren't the kind of books that you're just going to read through... they are reference books mainly, but there are some volumes that you can read. I'm reading Augustin's "City of God" right now as an example...

Anyway those are a couple of ideas...

PS. - I'm coming home this weekend. I should be in town tomorrow evening... so let's get that coffee, and try not to get into a scrap in the parking lot :p . If you can't make it out, then I'll see you in church on Sunday...

I've got "Christian Theology" by Millard Erikson, it's very good.

I second this book. I've had it for about 6 months and am taking a course at Liberty Univ that uses this as their text. Very nice Syst. Theology book. 1 volume, although Erickson has a 3 volume set of similar writing.
