  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don’t know what OS you are running but I can say you need to clean up your registry. When you uninstalled it, it left some junk behind if it’s still loading associated programs.

Check to see if the folder is still on your system and delete it if it is.

Download or buy a system tool that will clean up your registry. Trying a search in google with the words registry+clean will bring up tons of software. A registry/system tool should take care of anything else that would be needed to solve this.

Windows XP has a "verification" thing from Microsoft for most hardware drivers. However, some hardware is not Microsoft approved, and Windows would like to let you know this every time you turn on the computer.

I don't know how to disable the message, but I don't think cleaning the Registry would help much.

He was having a problem with a program and uninstalled it. Since windows is still trying to load it then it was not properly uninstalled. This mainly takes place in the registry. He edited that info out from his first post so yes my response makes little sense now.

Run msconfig, find the program, and disable it.
That may have been a good way to diagnose a problem in the first place but this is after the fact of an uninstall.

If he runs a registry maintenance program then there will be no need to msconfig at this point. Anyway there is no telling what was left behind in the reg or what other programs this entry is trying to reference. A good automated reg editor will clean up all the bogus entries and useless associations. Ultimately a poorly managed registry can slow the machine down or corrupt the OS all together.

Greetings and Salutations. This is my first time using this website, but I think it is a good thing if it brings people together. I am not sure if I am using this right or not. I have been trying to upgrade my INTERNET EXPLORER 5.0 TO 6.0SP1 the latest. Everytime I download it at MSUPDATES it installs around 80-92% and then stops. Am I supposed to remove the old before installing the new? I have Windows ME.
Any light someone can shed to solve the mystery is much appreciated.
Thanks
