  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Keep The Faith--I'm a senior in high school, and this will be my second year participating in SYATP. When I was a Freshman and Sophomore in high school I didn't feel comofrtable praying infront of other either. Actually, I didn't feel comfortable praying infront of others when I was a Junior(the first time I participated in SYATP), but I felt that I needed to test my faith. I strongly suggest taking part in SYATP especially if there's a number of kids doing it. It's a great experience and you become a part of movement for God created by our generation. No doubt about it, it's a huge leap of faith, and if you are a true believer, God has equipped you with everything you need to take this leap of faith. I'll be praying for you. Take care. As Always--Sara

Hey 15, I am 37 years old and still I am not very comfortable praying in front of a crowd. You can do it, and should do it. God will lift you up and you will be fine. Remember its a conversation between you and your eternal father. The rest of the people there will be involved in their own prayer, so just praise him and tell your father whats on your heart, and mind. I'll be praying for you and all students. God Bless

Why can't you go, because you have to pray outloud if you attend? If you have the choice then I strongly encourage you to go and see what it is all about. Maybe you won't be 'forced' to pray and you can go and listen with your ears and your heart the prayers of others. What a wonderful way to declare your faith just by being a part of this group! Please take the first step and go with an open desire to become closer to Him. I am truly being honest with you. Think about the reasons why you don't want to go. Then think of all the reasons why you want and should go. He doesn't want your fear to control you. He wants to control your fears. It would be a huge step in faith. And, from reading your posts, you have been questioning a few of your thoughts, not knowing whicha way to go. You go forward, my dear. Don't give up, but give in to Him and He can make things sooo much easier for you. Come back and let us know what happens. I LOVE great news!

Just a something for you to think about, KTF. The decision is still yours, but please do give it some more thought. Many times what God calls us to do takes us out of our comfort zones. It is really hard to grow as a Christian if we aren't challenged on occassion. Take Moses for example. He was really scared to death when God called him to lead His people out of Egypt. Now, Moses could have backed down and said "You know God, I just really don't feel comfortable doing this, so I am not going to. You need to find someone else. Or maybe next year. Or I really don't want other people to know that I hear voices from bushes. Or I don't want other people to know I follow You." What Moses did was confess his reluctance to God. God told him that He would be with him every step of the way. And God was! Think of all the amazing things Moses was able to do with God working through him.

Now, I know standing around a flag pole praying isn't quite the same as leading a people against an army. But, one thing is still true, God will be with you. He will help give you courage where you feel you have none. I don't know that much about it because this program wasn't happening when I was in school. But I bet if you did an internet search on it, you could find out more info. The local radio station I listen to has a web page that has information on it about this. If you are interested, let me know and I will PM you the web address.

What is it going to hurt to go? I bet there are others who feel uncomfortable also. If you went this year, you could find out more about what goes on and it may be something you like. But, again, it is your decision. I will pray that you make the one God is leading you to make.

Take care, KTF! I hope that you will be able to post us an update on what happened at your school with "See You At The Pole"!

Thats Me whats can i say?
it's not that i am saying "oh my heck no im not gonna go to see you at the pole" if someone would listen i said i didnt feel as if god was calling me to go i feel as if since im new, i know it will be a big leap and yada yada all the other stuff but i feel as if god is saying that for now i should just pray to him one on one no distractions no one else around, it's like on a more personal level i know maybe no one can understand but i feel as if god is saying do what i am saying not what others urge you to do..i pray for my school and teachers and counselers and peers everyday, it's not like im missing out on that prayer time, but i think that i shouldnt have to stand around a pole and pray if i am praying at home for a long time and god hears it right now to me god is laying it on my heart that the praying i do be between me and him...ya know im sur you dont no one really understands me so i wouldnt expect you guys too.

I'm sorry I didn't understand what you were saying KTF. I guess I took your post to mean you just didn't want to go because you were uncomfortable praying in public. But, as just about everyone has stated, it is your decision. It is between you and God, not you and us.
