Greetings all!
I just joined this forum and think it is so great there is a place where Christian Sci-Fi and Fantasy geeks can unite!
I figured this would be the best place to ask: Are there any other Christian sworders here? This is going on my sixth year of practicing the art of the German longsword, and I have not found any other Christians who do this (note, not fencing) that are not fourteen or under (even then I only know of two).

The reason I put it in this section is because most of the people who do like edged weapons also like Sci-Fi and/or fantasy.

So, if you do like edged weapons, specifically swords, why? To me, they are a great source of exercise, fun, dicipline, and a piece of history.
Thanks and God bless!

I know this is a giant necro-post, but I personally would love to get into swording. Do you just collect? Or is there like, sword training schools? Do you just swing it around in the backround? Exactly what do you actually do?

Any advice on how to get into it?

I practiced 2-hand english style swording for a bit... but it's been a few years and i'm out of shape and rusty now.

I do have a bit of an interest in martial history, and swords do fall under that.

yes there are clubs (can't remember the official term for them, apologies to the practitioners) and "armies" (basically large groups of official clubs) that get together and practice all the time. As for training it depends if there is someone knowledgeable in the art that is willing to teach (some do it for free and some do it for a cost) in the area.

The way I got into mine is word of mouth, so I don't really have any good info. However there is a lot out there that is involved with it and I do know there are large official tourneys held each year.

Random find this was, Ive been fighting long sword for 3 years and have been teaching for 1. Im currently running a class now. I also participate in SCA events, even though im not a member. Medieval European LongSword Combat is what i teach specifically. Of course we are not just limited to Longsword. i have used axes, daggers, knives, short swords, spears, halberds, hand to hand. We learn them all. we try to keep to the historical record when it comes to our style. We also draw from japanese influence, but we stay predominantly European. We also have a former SEAL team leader and former Army special forces operator as consultants.
