Shotgun Angel is my favorite CD by DA Motorcycle is also # 1 too favorite song on it is Noel. It reminds me of Randy Stonehill (my favorite CD by him Wonderama) I understand both CD's had the same producer.

I love music and its a plus that groups like Amy Grant & Larry Norman and Jars of clay are Christian.

Switchfoot however is my favorite group today.

My personal faves are the Nothing Is Sound album, You, Learning to Breathe, Dare You To Move, Meant To Live, Fire and Amy's Song (vain, I know ).

"Dare you to Move" really inspires me with zeal to deliver for God. That is what I care about. Does the music press me "Godward and upward. I really like the song "Gone" also since it's full of the truth.

I was just listening to their song 'awakening' - I checked it on wiki and apparently it didn't get very far up the charts because of slack promoting - it wipes the floor with some of the other big name hits out there who have such a mass following. You have to wonder if it's because they're christian so viewed as less 'marketable' or something. Makes you angry.

they have a very upbeat sound that is great when i sometimes need to cheer up a bit... also great to put some of their songs up at a party... great band.

Actually I didn't know they were Christian for a while until I really started listening to the lyrics. I like how they can appeal to a wide audience and get a Christian-centered message out there in a way that Atheists and people of other religions can appreciate without automatically turning it off just because it is "Christian."

I haven't heard much about them lately though, when was their last album released?

I think the best contemporay christian rock band out there is Switchfoot. They really rock hard with a wall of sound that does not let up til the last note.

awesome band. Best Christian metal band, hands down.

Anybody heard Mess of Me yet? Switchfoot's going for a bit more of a classic rock edge for Hello Hurricane it sounds like (and it sounds great IMO)

Hello Hurricane is amazing...the fact that their tracks can have so much diversity yet still have that distinct Switchfoot hook is absolutely brilliant. "Your Love Is A Song", "The Sound" and "Bullet Soul" have stood out thus far. This cd has spun pretty much non-stop the last couple days in the car. I'm getting the feeling HH is going to be epic in terms of exposure. There's not a track here that couldn't be released as a successful single.

I've been a fan of the band ever since New Way to Be Human back in 1999. I still remember the days when I would tell people about Switchfoot and they had no idea who they were. It's been awesome to see them make it into the big leagues and reach a whole new audience with their music.

Hello Hurricane is AMAZING and definitely one of their best albums yet. I thought Nothing Is Sound and Oh! Gravity. were good but a bit repetitive and inconsistent. The new album really gets back to the diversity and lyrical depth that make the band so great.

Great post and very well stated. I've been a fan of theirs for several years as well and I'm still incredulous when I find someone who isn't familiar with Switchfoot. This album however, should take them to an entirely new realm...it's that good.
