CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There an OK band. I have their poster in my room. I don't find their lyrics very distinct as "Christian". I do like a few of their songs though.

I find there lyrics as "Christian"...
they also play them all the time on my schools radio station (oh yeah I go to a Christian school)
and on their album they have a nice thanx to God

they are a great band whose lyrics are pretty neutral with a flavor of christianity. i love them tho, my favorite song by them is on fire by their beautiful letdown cd. it is such a beautiful song.

Do people actually listen to lyrics of songs? I mean, c'mon, they're definately Christian. So they don't say "I love Jesus" or something like that in every song...That's not what makes them a Christian band. Most Christian bands usually don't say things so blatently. I dunno, I guess I just see a lot of people questioning Christian bands because their lyrics aren't so blatent. Jesus telling his parables wasn't very blatent, he didn't just say, "do this" he told a story. Bands, like Switchfoot, aren't worship bands, they are expressing a message in an artistic form, such does any other band out there.

Oh yeah, I love Switchfoot! If it wasn't for bands like Switchfoot I probably wouldn't be a practicing Christian myself, I'd be well into the dark side of life.

Yeah I've been a switchfoot fan for about 6 years.....'new way to be human' was their first song I heard and 'dare you to move' is probably my favourite!

yup switchfoot are great, one of my favourite cds of all (christian/secular/whatever!) definitely has to be legend of chin, i'm thinking it was their first but someone can correct me if i'm wrong there. beautiful let down is also great, its got a much more polished and well more mature sound than legend of chin, but i dont think it quite beats it in my opinion!

Switchfoot is good. I am not one of those fans that has been for a while I don't even have a cd of them but I have heard them and like them and maybe in the future I will get a cd of them.

Switchfoot is a deffinate Christian band ... just look at the lyrics there is no reason to doubt that...

I think they should be a little more open of the teachings of Christianity. They have a good sounds and everything, they're just quite "bland" sometimes

I just got their new album, The Beautiful Letdown and they're amazing!!! I TOTALLY suggest this CD if anyone doesn't have it yet, it's got so many of their hits!! (Like: Meant to Live, Dare You to Move, and Ammunition, just to name a few)... its awesome!! aight, peace guys.

I LOVE them! I first heard them in A Walk To Remember and really liked them but didnt even know they were Christian. I bought the cd and listen to them all the time.

I have jsut started listening to the Legend of Chin again (it was their first CD) and man do i like it a lot! all their CDs rock!
