Nope, I make them. I consider myself an uneducated scientist, I have my own little lab and dabble in everything from horticulture (creating drought resistant hybrids by breeding local native plants with "store bought" varieties using some of the more advanced hydro and aero ponic systems) to theoretical physics (had to take a few college courses for that).

I might not be changing the world but I enjoy my little experiments and one day hope to invent something, probably plant related that at the very least helps humanity.

Well, that's another way of getting them! And your lab sounds awesome. I would love to have a backyard lab, but still in the student stage at the moment. Last thing I was working on was my fluorescent and radioactive rock sample collection (bit of an amateur collector).

Well, we only have like 100 swine flu threads on CF, so here's another one:

OK, so is the crisis that David Wilkerson predicted last month?
No! It does not even come close to any prediction that the Rev. has made.
Is it what Joe Biden warned of during the presidential election?
I haven't seen what he said, but most likely not.
Is it a cover to round us up and quarantine us in FEMA camps?
:D:D:D:D:D

It is a sign of the end times?
Most likely not.
Are Christians more or less likely to be infected than others?
Christians get sick just as non-christians do. God can protect those he chooses to protect. Have faith.

I use the term "lab" loosely. It is in my backyard shed and I have a couple of computers, lots of waterworks (home made hydroponic systems) and tons of green plants. 2 separate lighting chambers for "spring/summer" and "fall/winter" so I can force my berry plants to start blooming and producing fruit.

My neighbors all think I am growing pot, good times......

Given how daftly paranoid some people are about science, I'd probably let them think I was growing pot ;)

Sounds cool nonetheless - keep it up and all the best with it! :)

I remember someone quoting verses about we will become ill through the beasts of the field. So far we have seen bird flu and now swine flu and I believe technology should be added.
We have no earthly idea how many chemicals are in the beef, poultry and fish we eat not to mention illnesses of the earth. I keep telling my dad I want some beef that I know is carefully tended and is grass finished.

*If you have a weak stomach don't read this, but have you wondered how all this meat can be supplied that quickly. I eat very few hamburgers from them now as I feel sick thinking of what I read.

But I read on a huge natural health site about the fast food beef that is eaten. These poor beasts are shot up with everything imaginable and live in feed lots almost their whole lives. And they are usually in very sad shape.
Followed by that are the horrible conditions inside the plants where many workers are immigrants and paid low wages for very long hours. And we can only imagine what goes on there as my father once worked for the government checking plants...shivers.

I wouldn't eat meat if my life depended on it.

Well if it wasn't for the fact that here in the States people regularly get their homes "raided" (and you foot the bill) and their pets and themselves (unarmed I might add) shot over far less than growing pot, I will continue to keep a low profile.

I'll PM you some pics here in a sec.

I'm sorry, I do realise that's the case, my bad joke.

It's all very fun until you get home, and your neighbors are smoking your hydroponic sage. :p

I give the ones I like fresh, organic herbs and veggies. For some people fresh tomatoes, carrots and local wild berries during the DEAD of winter are worth their weight in gold.

That being said I did have one of the neighbor's kids (17-20ish) ask if he could buy some of that "dank a** hydo bud". He was very disappointed when I took the lock off and showed him all my "sticky icky".

I did however hook him up with a friend I met at the local hydro store (where I am the only one who is actually growing "tomatoes").

Apparently the sarcasm and humour intended in the original post didn't translate very well. My bad.

As for all the stuff they put in our food, I'm afraid to find out. I'm afraid it would take away my appetite, permanently.

probably because it isn't a joke.

The idea that "God punishes evil nations" is a joke. If it were true then the most Godless nations on earth wouldn't have the lowest crime rates and highest standards of living.

I dont think it's got anything to do with God... it's all to do with mankind..
someone was saying that this sort of info can cause worry/anxiety.. but for those that think this is a joke.. think about it for a minute.. how likely is it that an H5N1 virus has installed part human, swine and bird? How likely is that?

Extremely likely. Virtually all flu viruses have human virus genes + some of swine or birds. Every so often, you get a mix of all three. The 1918 virus was one that was like that. When they tracked it down, it originated in birds, moved to pigs and then jumped to humans.

.. we'll see.. this one dosn't seem to be that deadly.

Anyone think at this point the virus will be a threat whatever the origin may be? You know I was suprised at my husband. He is away on business and was concerned how sick I had become with a sinusitis.
He wanted to have me tested for flu. I told him that he was simply buying into the hype as I have had boughts for nigh up to twenty years...
