  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can't imagine letting my daughter wear a bikini.

I like the idea of rash tops and boardies (I am in Australia though and it's a sun safe thing) But if it's an indoor pool I would be happy with a tankini and the boy leg shorts or something. Those are cute and still fashionable.

I wear a tankini top and boardies myself.

You're setting a precedent right now. It's up to you what you want her to wear in public, but once you allow it now, you aren't going to be able to change your mind when she's 15 or 16, has a cute little body, and wants to show it off with her friends at the beach.

If it's not important to you, if it's not an issue of modesty, etc. for you, then let her wear what she wants.

As for me and my house :) my girls (12 and 15) aren't allowed to wear bikinis, we find the cutest one piece suits that we can find, which is hard these days, but it's possible. Most places are pushing the bikinis for young ladies.:sigh:

Thankfully, my girls would feel naked wearing a bikini (logical, since it's equal to wearing a bra and underwear in public), and don't really desire to show that much flesh in public, so it's not really a fight. Thank the Lord! I hope it lasts!;)

My daughter will be 8 this summer, and we *do not* do bikinis. Not when she's 7/8, not when she's 17.

The only possible exception would be to wear as easy-dry underwear at an amusement park with lots of water rides. That, imo, *would* be more modest than regular bra and panties.

Two of the stores we shop at didn't sell anything but bikinis. The first pic is a suit from Abercombie and that is all they sell. The second two came from LTD Too and I don't recall seeing a 1 piece there.

I think a two piece is fine to wear, I just really am not sure about the one from Abercombie though. I don't like it. She bought it with money she worked for though.

Just b/c it is the only thing that you can find in a particular store doesn't make it either modest, or appropriate for a child to wear. (JMHO)
I didn't say it made it modest. I really don't like the one she bought. Apparently she isn't the only kid wearing them since they have sold out twice this year already.

The few stores she likes clothes at don't carry 1 pieces.
