  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The sweep thread! What a thread, what a thread!

What a glorious thread, what a glorious day!

While we're sweeping, don't forget to dance!

Calling out around the world, are you ready for a brand new beat.
Summers here and the time is right, for dancing in the streets,
Theyre dancing in chicago ( theyll be dancing )
Down in new oreleans ( dancing in the streets )
Up in new york city ( dancing in the streets )
All we need is music ( sweet sweet ) sweet music (sweet sweet music )
Therell be music everywhere.
Therell be swinging,swaying,records playing,dancing in the streets,oh!
It doesnt matter what hat you wear, just as long as you are there,
So come on
Grab a guy,grab a girl,everywhere around the world.
Therell be dancing, dancing in the streets.
( oh )its just an invitation, across the nation,a chance for folks to meet.
Therell be laughing and singing, music swinging, dancing in the streets
All we need is music ( sweet sweet ) sweet music (sweet sweet music )
Therell be music everywhere.
Therell be swinging,swaying,records playing,dancing in the streets,oh!
It doesnt matter what hat you wear, just as long as you are there,
So come on
Grab a guy,grab a girl,everywhere around the world.
Dancing,dancing in the streets,
Way down in la,everyday, dancing in the streets ( dancing in the streets )
San francisco way, ( dancing in the streets ), they do it everyday now,
( dancing in the streets )

That is not responsive. It is rhetorical and speculative, irrefutable and unsupportable... so why waste your time writing it, unless you can't answer the original question and are trying to change the subject?
I refer you to the "election" of 2004.

Well duh, missed that reference... want to try answering the question?
I was responding to your petty comment about "sweep."

But I will answer your question regarding how Lieberman won.

He got the most votes. (I should have thought that was obvious)

Not anti Bush votes... certainly not pro Democrat votes... not anti war votes... maybe they were anti-Democrat votes, Democrats, Republicans and Independents together protesting the dirty tricks of the Democrat Party, to re-elect a good man, a good American and decent human being.

I'm REALLY enjoying this! A full SWEEP! My state even had a SWEEP! My county was pretty close to have a SWEEP as well! Somebody slap me!

Now it's time to get to business and mend what the Bushies/ Republicans destroyed! Wait, how could they destroy anything if they didn't DO anything? I guess it would be kind of hard to balance the **Cough** Budget in two years though....

Why is it "dirty tricks" for the Democrats to vote in the Primary for the candidate they prefer for the job, but it's not "dirty tricks" for the populace in the general election to vote for the candidate they prefer for the job?

Bah. You don't need to answer. I know. You're just fuming because you know we're..

Yes, we won the House and squeaked out a majority in the Senate. It's only a little more of a sweep than the election Katherine Harris gave to Bush was a mandate. But it's a win, and a fair one, and we'll take it!

Now will I get edited for posting this:

The elections are over
The results are now known.
The will of the people is clearly shown.
Let's stop all our quarrels
And show by our deeds
We'll give our new leaders
The help that they need.
Let's all join together
And let bitterness pass.
I'll hug your elephant
And you kiss my donkey.

I really thought Bush was going to change his views on gay marriage, when I heard he had a man date.

You still don't get it do you? Gore lost Florida even with all the recounts and lost ballots and alledged fraud. Bush got more votes. GET OVER IT. Where are all the demands for recounts this time? All of sudden no fraud... no irregularities... no waiting in lines, no intimidation????? Oh... no need to question the process when you win by 1000 votes... only when you lose by 1000.

Goodness, I think you got so caught up that you missed my point, which was that the Democrats didn't sweep the election. Bush never had a mandate, and the Democrats didn't have a sweep. It was close, and close elections don't give you the right to proclaim that you ride into town on this vast tide of support that the words "sweep" and "mandate" convey.

When I made the OP, I picked the word "sweep" because that's what the network news was calling it. I did not mean to sound like I was gloating and I certainly did not mean to offend anyone. For KCDAD and anyone else that I offended, I'm truly sorry.
