  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But those words make sense in the context they are used, in most places curse words are used in the context of a simile or a metaphor, such as "this smells like s###" or "you're an a##".

So why don't politicians such as Ron Paul, Mitt Romney or Barrack Obama not swear during presidential speeches? Wouldn't that be okay within your frame of reference?

I would have no problem with that, but the vast majority of Earth's population would deem that unacceptable. So nobody would ever attempt it for fear of political consequences.

People all have their struggles. I know a Christian that struggles with swearing. I wouldn't say that just because someone cusses or swears it means they are not Christian. It is a struggle like any other. God will eventually get their attention on the matter.

I actually got into the habbit of saying a phrase that I didn't that actually was taking God's name in vain. Needless to say, as soon as I found out about I stopped saying the phrase.

People make mistakes and will accidently misuse God's name but God will most certainly forgive them if they ask Him to.
