Hello Everyone
This is another post to keep for a short time.
I was challenged by a friend a month ago to not allow negative thoughts to enter my mind. It use to be to try and not say anything negative about myself. But she took it one step farther and told me that anytime a negative thought would begin to come to the surface to say, "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Then prayerfully kick the thing out and immediately think on the things God wants me to (See Philippians 4:8), pray more, and sing praises to the Lord.
Ephesians 4 says, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, violent assertivenss and slander, along with all spitefulness." These are things that should not enter our minds because they tear us down. We know where that can lead. Instead, we need to love and nurture ourselves - to build up. This is God's way: "Love is Patient. Love is Kind. Love delights in the Truth. Love Always Bears Up. Love Always Trusts. Love Always Hopes. Love Always Endures. . But for now, three things last - TRUST, HOPE, LOVE; and the greatest of these is LOVE. PURSUE LOVE!" (I Corinthians 13:4-8;14:1a). Thinking in these terms takes a lot of discipline and help from God. The amazing part is that learning to keep out negative thoughts and then thinking the way God sees us will improve our self-image; and (for me) it easier not to look at the path that leads to self destructive behavior. If we "Pursue Love" , then we cannot run headlong to bring harm to ourselves.
I challenge you to try this. It isn't easy at first because we tend not to like ourselves. But I promise that you will find more peace and less desire to head for a "friend" that betrays the TRUTH of who we really are. Remember that God doesn't want His children broken and hurt. He came to RESCUE, DELIVER, AND HEAL US.
