Nice try.
Lucaspa thinks he can surgically separate the 2 so that he has no final athority to answer to.
No bible, no rules.
I know his hedge.

Any even larger percentage of the population believed the Sun was a god and that the Earth is flat for a far longer time, but that doesn't make it correct.

Are you suggesting that the Bible is more important than Christ?

Jesus is the word of God. From the beginning, man has always had the question of: What does God want from us. The Bible gives us Gods plan and tells us exactly what He wants and expects from us.
Only God did one better than that. He sent Jesus to be a living example for us to follow. Everything we need to know, to be the people God wants us to be, we can find in Jesus.
So we are to become living epistles. We are to do all the Bible says we can do, and we are to be, all the Bible says we can be. Our life is to be a living example to others.
Oh, wait a min. have not you and I had long conversations about what it means to be real and not a phony? Do you think in your wildest imagination that the Bible does not show us the way to be real, and show us how not to be a phony?

lucaspa:
''Also, some major doctrines are not specifically Biblical. Trinity is the prime example. There is no genuine verse in the NT equating all three -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- as being one. There are verses equating two of the three, but never all three. ''
The truth;
"For there are three bearing witness in Heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one."
(1 John 5:7 LITV)
Nice dodge before.

Gotta admit, lucaspa, he's got you on this one. You should know better than to debate a Biblist on scripture.
Don't play his game; stick with real science.

Okay FOC...
You used a verse to call Lucaspa's Christianity and knowledge of the bible into question.
You have been shown that the verse you used is most likely an add on that was not in the original text.
Lucaspa was right and you insulted him for it, are you going to apologize? Or will your pride not allow you to do that.

I just find it amazing that someone would claim the Bible is the foundation of the faith. The faith predates the Bible, and the Bible isn't in the Nicene creed. The foundation of the faith is a personal relationship with God. The Bible itself says that, without that, the Bible is just meaningless.

Well, you do seem to know some things.
Now can you explain why, since the faith predates the scriptures, that I would say that the Bible is the foundation of Christianity?
There are reasons.![]()

I would say because you belong to a denomination which teaches that. I think that teaching is in error. Probably the whole thing about the "Word" in 1 John, being applied to the Bible instead of to Christ.
